need help getting BI to "discover" DVR cameras

I want to thank everyone for their help. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get it to work. I also use IPCamViewer, and it too does not find a valid stream. It does provide a long list of potential streams to try. It will take some time to try them one-by-one. I'm not too optimistic...

need help getting BI to "discover" DVR cameras

I took the password off to see if that might be an issue. Didn't alter the outcome so I've put it back on now. Are the Media/video/RTSP port = 80 and the Discovery/ONVIF port = 8999 correct in this case? Do I need any stream profile defined?

need help getting BI to "discover" DVR cameras

I reset the DVR. It shows The HTTP port is 80. Using BI discovery (with the LAN IP address included) shows "RTSP port detected". It also shows a Discovery/Media port as 8999. I"ve attached 2 screen snapshots. I think I may be SOL. Any other ideas? Would any port forwarding that I've done...

need help getting BI to "discover" DVR cameras

I tried the reset, it shows the HTTP port as 80. Still nothing found. When I do the discovery, it says "RTSP port detected" but when I "OK" back to the live screen in BI it continues to show "Not Found".

need help getting BI to "discover" DVR cameras

That's a drag, but I guess if it burned you then you have to stay away from it going forward. In my case, I have 2 Lorex DVRs that work well. This new one I am trying to integrate is an old machine. I won't be surprised if it can't be integrated, and I'll be disappointed since I had a plan...

need help getting BI to "discover" DVR cameras

I will try the reset. I am out of town for a couple of days so won't have access to the unit. I will try when I return. Thanks again for your patience.

need help getting BI to "discover" DVR cameras

Fing shows only one port open, #23 Teleco. I tried including :23 in the IP address in both of your above suggestions. VNC seems to spin on both of them. I’m curious why Fing doesn’t show the HTTP port as open?

need help getting BI to "discover" DVR cameras

The DVR only has an HTTP port defined. There is no mention of other ports such as media/RTSP or discovery ports.

need help getting BI to "discover" DVR cameras

Thanks again Tony, but VLC is still not able to open it. I've also tried the "scan" facility in IPCamViewer which I use, and it can't find anything either. I'm going to continue to dig around to find a solution, so please suggest other options if you have some ideas. They're appreciated.

need help getting BI to "discover" DVR cameras

That's what I was afraid of. I have 2 other Lorex DVR's that work fine. This one I bought used with some cameras. It's an older model, so it may not have what is needed to interface with. I'm not ready for the sledgehammer yet though! - but thanks for the warning!

need help getting BI to "discover" DVR cameras

thanks TonyR. I've removed the port forwarding reference. Still no joy. I tried the "Find/Inspect" using "generic" and also a couple of Lorex models. I've attached one that looked like it detected an RTSP port. It continues to show "No Signal". The VLC result also fails. See below...

need help getting BI to "discover" DVR cameras

I have an old DVR from Lorex (Lorex Edge model LH324) and I can't get BI to "see" any of the 4 cameras. I have 2 other Lorex DVRs that I've been successful with, but not having success with this old girl. I have set a static IP for the HTTP port in the DVR, and have port forwarded this port #...

what's the best way to get a 2nd BI machine going?

Thanks. The existing and new configurations will be 100 miles apart. My current BI license doesn't provide a upgrade to BI 5. I'm not sure which location I will run BI 5 on, so I'm planning on installing the new installation in BI 4, then upgrading it to BI 5 to test it out. If I decide to...

what's the best way to get a 2nd BI machine going?

Thanks. I'm going to transfer a couple of cameras to the new configuration. I'm hoping that my steps would save me from copying the detail setup info such as FTP, email, etc. Sounds like it's worth a try, I can always start from fresh if necessary. Thanks

what's the best way to get a 2nd BI machine going?

I want to buy a new BI license for another location, and start my configuration using one that I've worked on at my first BI 4 location. I want to install BI 4 initially and then move to BI 5. Here's my thinking, please suggest things that I've not thought of: 1) exported my settings from...

    Starlink satellite internet

I have a few neighbours (in Ontario Canada) that have installed Starlink. They are getting very solid reliability and great download speeds... upwards of 550 Mbps!

Neighbor wants what I have but that's not going to happen.

haha, you realize that your neighbor is ultimately going to join this group when he starts to go down the rabbit hole.... I think he could start out with an NVR solution, and get motion detection emails etc. If he wanted more than that, he could always add a PC and BI, and pull all NVR camears...

FTP Images from Hikvision Cam to Personal Website

I would suggest posting pictures of your setup on the FTP page. (you can black out the parts you don't want to share). I have found that different cameras - even from the same manufacturer - expect different formats of things like, (1) where the slashes appear, (2) whether you have specify...

    Camera for sump pump

boy, I don't blame you for wanting to monitor your setup. It wouldn't take a long for a pump failure to really cause a problem. That water is wild!... but that also makes it fun to design a nice failsafe solution.

Can I attach old analog cameras to a Lorex D841 HD DVR?

thanks. I was worried that the newer 4K unit might have a minimum resolution and that it might not like the lower resolution cameras. Thanks

Can I attach old analog cameras to a Lorex D841 HD DVR?

I have a Lorex D841A8B HD DVR. The manual says that I can "Connect Lorex HD or standard analog cameras". I have a number of older analog cameras that I'd like to connect to it. I notice that the supplied cameras have a much heavier siamese cable than my older cameras are using. Ihave 2...
