Synology NAS NVR vs. a Standalone NVR

Thanks for clarifying that. No, Surveillance Station Action Rules cannot run program or scripts unfortunately. I agree BI's implementaton feels a lot more flexible then. I do think if one owns a Synology NAS already, running the Surveillance Station is a no brainer. The $50/camera after 2...

Synology NAS NVR vs. a Standalone NVR

I've been using Synology for a few months and am very impressed with the software. I use Dahua cameras, and Synology now supports IVS. In Synology, you can write "Action Rules' triggered by IVS and use this to talk to IFTTT for home Automation. I've written rules that has IVS turn on...

    Alexa/Google Home integration

The problem is I found out Alexa routines cannot not trigger off SmartThing switches and lights, only off sensors. So after experimenting, what I ended up doing is creating a Virtual Door Lock on SmartThings. The IVS events will trigger Webhooks to lock this Virtual Lock via IFTTT. Then I...

    Alexa/Google Home integration

Success finally!! So I kept digging and it turns out Synology Surveillance Station can have 'Action Rule" triggered by IVS, and these Action rules can send events to Webhooks, which in turn can control SmartThings via IFTTT! After playing with it a bit, I've now got IVS triggering my...

    Alexa/Google Home integration

But wouldnt it be simplier to just use a Smartthing motion sensor talking to Alexa? That's what I have now for the guest announcement. Or maybe you need the IVS functions specifically? I was actually hoping to eliminate my front door Smartting motion sensor and use the camera's sensor instead.

    Alexa/Google Home integration

I'm using Synology Surveillance Station. Thank you for your idea, although I dont think it will work in my case. I was really hoping for a software solution. I also have SmartThings and IFTT, but neither talk Dahua or Synology, unfortunately.

    Alexa/Google Home integration

Did a search, but did not find anything. Has anyone been able to get IVS (or motion) event trigger to Alexa? Would like to have IVS turn on lights, etc. Thanks.

Any issues in recording directly to NAS without video management software?

I currently have 4 camera licenses on my Synology NAS and would like to add more cameras. Instead of buying additional camera license at a costly $60 each, it just occured to me I can have the new cameras record directly onto the NAS (without going through Synology Surveillance Station). I...

What does everyone use for viewing and managing IVS snapshots?

Ah...I think I was searching for a viewer so missed your post. Thank you so much and I will give it a shot. I am surprised Dahua does not provide a tool given they created this funny directory structure.

What does everyone use for viewing and managing IVS snapshots?

I finally got IVS snapshots to my Synology NAS working. However, the directory format that Dahua creates is quite convolated. I searched the forums and could not find anyone mentioning a snapchat viewer or management tool. Are there such thing? Thank you!

    IVS Tripwire on Dahua

Ok..I missed this because I assumed enabling IVS rules (and disabling MD) is what you meant. Didnt know it needed another option called Smart Plan :(. Thanks.

    IVS Tripwire on Dahua

Oh, I also clicked IVS under Event->Smart Plan. Not sure what that does...was just trying anything.

    IVS Tripwire on Dahua

Got it working. Apparently, you need to set up the Global Setup. Watch this video: DahuaWiki. I set up 3 vertical lines, and 1 horizontal lines, and now the my IVS email is working. However, I still cant get it to include a snapshot in the email. Is a SD card needed to have snapshot?

    IVS Tripwire on Dahua

I just started setting up IVS and got exact same problem. No emails from IVS, just from MD.

Cannot initialize Dahua IPC-T2431T-AS - newbie

Hello, I just purchased a Dahua IPC-T2431T-AS from Andy to test in hope of upgrading my analog home system. Camera is hooked up to a new Netgear POE switch which is connected to my home router. My home network uses 192.168.2.* IP addresses. When I run the ConfigTool, i can see the new camera...
