    DSC 1864 install opinions wanted

Correct, resistors are just for each zone. Installing them at the panel makes them essentially useless, but it might be easier than programming those zones to be NC Loops. But yeah, keypads and sirens don't need a resistor.

    DSC 1864 install opinions wanted

Looks good to me. Again, just make sure to split power up as evenly as possible, but those power supplies should give you enough power for everything now. The panel might not come with a transformer or battery. You might need to get another one of each. I know that the Neo series panels don't...

    DSC 1864 install opinions wanted

The resistors are optional. The benefit of having resistors is that the wire is supervised, so the system will know the difference between a short in your wire versus a closed circuit. I personally never use resistors. I just program the panel not to look for EOL resistors. If you do decide to...

    DSC 1864 install opinions wanted

Yeah, you'll definitely want a battery for the panel and one for each power supply. After putting smoke detectors in, you'll definitely need a second 5204.

    DSC 1864 install opinions wanted

    For reference, here is a list of the current draw for each device and how much current the power supply and panel offer. PTK5507 - 250ma X 2 PK5501 - 150ma X 3 Envisalink - 65ma PC5108 - 30ma PC5204 - 30ma PC1864 - 550ma on the aux/data bus circuit and 700ma on the bell circuit Power Supply -...

    DSC 1864 install opinions wanted

Honestly, that's a lot of power draw and even with a PC5204 power supply, that's cutting it close to the limit. But assuming that both sirens draw 350ma and the strobe draws 150ma, here is the best way to split it up. Cabinet 1: PC1864, Outdoor Siren, Strobe, Envisalink, 1 PK5501, and 1...

    Which is the better NVR?

    A 22TB drive has been confirmed to work on a NVR5432-4KS2 https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/dahua-nvrs-claim-to-support-drives-up-to-10tb.66857/#post-719532

cat 5 vs cat 6 vs cat 6e vs cat 6A

For cameras, just use cat5e. That will allow for gigabit speeds, and cameras don't use nearly that. For mine, I'm using a 100mb switch for 3 cameras and they do just fine, so cat5e is plenty. For everything else, I'd use cat6. Cat6a is probably overkill, but if you really want to future proof...

Dahua NVR's Claim to Support Drives up to 10TB?

It's also possible that the drive isn't a full 22TB. Maybe it's 21.9xx and WD just said, close enough. Either way, I'm glad to see that larger drives like this work.

Dahua NVR's Claim to Support Drives up to 10TB?

That's kinda what I was thinking, but just wasn't sure. So I guess the conclusion is that a 22TB drive wil be fully supported, but to my knowledge, nobody has tried a larger drive (which would be unnecessary since 22TB seems to be the largest surveillance grade drive available to my knowledge)

Dahua NVR's Claim to Support Drives up to 10TB?

I know that this is a topic that has had some discussion around it. I saw one post where somebody got a 12TB drive working on a Dahua NVR, but until today, that's the largest drive that I know of anyone trying to use. An acquaintance of mine is installing a system at his new home and he came...

Any advice on access control system?

ProDataKey has a really nice GUI IMO. I've heard a lot of good things about it, but fyi, it is cloud based.

    Pole mount Dahua 5442T-ZE

According to this document from Dahuas website, the eyeball camera can mount to the PFA130-E and the PFA130-E can mount to the PFA152-E

    Pole mount Dahua 5442T-ZE

I'm not sure whether or not the holes align to mount the PFA130-E to the PFA152-E, but if not, you can just use self tapping screws and drill your own holes. I see no reason that this wouldn't work if you're willing to do that.

Dual camera dual lens Hikvision 5mp network camera

Fair enough. If the things that bothered me didn't bother you so much, then that's great. In my case, I had to mount two of them vertically on a wall due to space constraints on the wall. Since they don't rotate on a 3d axis, I wasn't able to get a very good image on the top one. I also didn't...

Dual camera dual lens Hikvision 5mp network camera

Funny enough, I just installed 6 of these today lol. Yeah, they are technically just one camera with two lenses. Just need one cable and one IP address, but they do use two channels. Personally, I'm not a fan of these. They didn't include the weatherproof connector for the rj45 plug so it was a...

Trying to understand my NVR /Camera setup

You can access the camera GUI from the NVR GUI by doing the following: Access the NVR GUI from a web browser and go to the network settings, click advanced settings, and select the "other" tab. Check the box next to "virtual host" and click apply/save. Next, click on "System" on the left and go...

Digital Watchdog Spectrum vs Wisenet Wave

What's the difference between these two VMS platforms? I know that they are nearly identical, but are there any differences? Camera licenses for DW Spectrum are like $20 cheaper.

Type the default ip addresses into a web browser. I would recommend looking up threads on how to do this. There are quite a few out there already that walk you through initial setup.

    Poe switch help

I have mine working without a direct connection from my switch to my NVR. Plug your NVR into your router and plug your switch into your router. Then log into each cameras web page and assign your cameras ip addresses that are on the same range as your NVR. Log into the NVR and manually add the...

    Dahua NVR H.265 Auto Switch

I'm not sure if this has been discussed somewhere else, but I haven't seen any threads talking about this yet. I'm using a 4000 series Dahua NVR and at first, I was using H.265 on all of my cameras. Later on, I installed Home Assistant and found that many web browsers will not stream H.265 so I...

    Need Advice on Software

I would look into Exacqvision. It may take multiple servers to get 256 cameras onto it, but I'm not sure. A lot of their servers are rated for up to 128 cameras, but I'm not sure if that's a hardware limitation or a software lock. If it's hardware, you can always buy a custom server and load...

    Lorex 2K doorbell

I have heard that complaint before, but I don't remember where. I think it was on a doorbell comparison video on Youtube. I haven't noticed excess background noise on mine unless it's windy, but maybe that's just me. Does it sound better when there is actually someone talking? If so, it may just...

    Turret camera mount

Honestly, this is going to sound harsh, but I think installing the cameras recessed inside of the wall like that is a bad idea and just looks awful. It just sticks out like a sore thumb. Aesthetics aside, if you ever plan on upgrading the camera, it'll be impossible without ripping giant holes...

    PTZ Mounting Question

I don't see why you couldn't mount it to brick. Just need tapcons or plastic anchors to fasten it. Maybe some washers if the holes in the back are too big.

    Cleaning Cameras / Maintenance

I've always just used Windex and a paper towel. Spray the towel with Windex, don't spray the camera. The security company I used to work for has done that for years and it's never caused a problem with a cameras lense or scratch it or anything. If you're worried about scratching it, a microfiber...

    SDD

I'm not sure that a 2.5" SSD will fit in the drive bay, but you should be able to find a way to keep it in place. You don't have to worry about vibrations ruining it or anything like that. So even sticking it onto the case with double sided sticky foam would be fine.

    SDD

SSD's aren't optimal for NVR's. An NVR will constantly be writing data to the drive and SSD's have a limited amount of data that they can write before failing. A hard drive will last much longer in an NVR. A HDD is also much cheaper and typically have more storage. The only upside an SSD will...

    Stupid question

I think the easiest solution is to just get a mini PC for the second monitor and load the Lorex Cloud software on it. Then you don't need to worry about setting up a completely different recorder. Minix has some pretty small and cheap PC's capable of running a continuous camera stream.
