As an aside, does setting up a VPN tunnel using an ASUS router have any effect on regular internet traffic outgoing/incoming from the home LAN? Reason I ask is that I'm using MagicJack VOIP and I'm wondering if I setup an VPN tunnel if there will be any issues.

My Hikvision NVR is in a location where it can conveniently be ran with the cover off. Would this provide better cooling? Or is the case designed for the fan to pull/push air more efficiently? Also another possibility would be case off with a 140mm computer fan blowing across the board.

Personally I wouldn't do that. In Hikvision NVR's there are 2 small fans. The one that cools the board produces almost no noise. The one on the power supply however is loud. I don't think you would notice any sound difference disconnecting the first one, and I think it would be detrimental...

Would you please explain the measurement "1/2.5" I see these specifications of sensor sizes tossed around but I don't understand what the unit(s) of measurement are. I assume by your comment "1/2" is a larger sensor.

Can't find a setting to do this. Tried the camera edit function adding method as plug-and-play, and did not work. Maybe SADP tool to reset camera's IP to 192.168.254.xxx range.

Apparently the NVR's internal network is 192.168.254.xxx while my connected cameras are still 192.168.0.xxx (my LAN). I am at a loss as to how to change this IP configuration.
