Installer / Contractor in the Escondido, CA Area needed

Hey guys, I've been a member for a long time and I DIY everything. A dear friend in another state is trying to install a camera system after a near total loss fire with unknown origins (fire department can't rule out arson). I'd love them to get some IP cameras setup, have someone pull ethernet...

Recommend DAV to MP4 Converter, Please

Works perfectly in Windows 10, I'm pretty sure it's a dependency that needs an update on my Ubuntu box.... I need to sort that. Thanks!

Recommend DAV to MP4 Converter, Please

    Typo maybe? ffmpeg -y -i video.dav .dav -vcodec libx264 -crf 24 -movflags +faststart video.mp4 should read ffmpeg -y -i video.dav -vcodec libx264 -crf 24 -movflags +faststart video.mp4 Still no audio for me on: ffmpeg version 4.1.1-0york1~18.04 Copyright (c) 2000-2019 the FFmpeg developers...

Do you guys restrict cameras from accessing internet?

I use Ubiquiti stuff so I'm able to setup pretty complex firewall rules, but many routers can do the same. I have all my cameras and NVR live on their own VLAN and don't allow that VLAN any access to my main LAN where my important files servers, VPN server, etc. live. The main LAN can access the...

    Bricked IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE?

Looks like it's bricked. I'm boxing it up to send back to Andy. He'd confident they can fix it.

    Bricked IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE?

I shrink wrap, then seal the ends with electrical tape. Love that coax-seal stuff...thanks for reminding me about it!

    Bricked IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE?

Looking nice, fresh and clean. I don't think it's the connection. I'm tempted to try the reset button, but I'll wait to hear from Andy first.

    Bricked IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE?

Already pulled it down. It was in a dry spot under my covered patio. Tried with a short cable but still not working. Do these have an external reset button or do you have to take them apart?

    Bricked IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE?

One of my IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE cameras I got from Andy in July seemed to have died. It seems to perhaps be stuck in a boot loop since it seems to periodically disconnect from the switch. I can't ping it or see it with the Dahua ConfigTool. Any thoughts on how to recover it? Thanks!

Hey guys, I started a thread over here (DAV converter command line), but was wondering if any of the previous contributors to this thread know of any command line tools to convert DAVs?

    2MP PIR Wifi camera

Yeah, that's still a pain, but less of a pain since I have a decent number of outdoor outlets...shorter run at least.

    2MP PIR Wifi camera

Any update, Andy? I have a couple places in my yard that would be cool to put a WiFi camera instead of trenching through Texas limestone to run a network cable.

    DAV converter command line

Hi folks, I've been trying to put together some scripts to create a ring.com like interface for IVS events from our Dahua cameras. Does anyone know of any command line tools for converting DAV files? Linux tools would be best, but I'll take what I can get. I've been trying ffmpeg, but can't...

Recording to FTP when IVS is tripped

I figured out one issue. Strange bug... For some strange reason, in the NVR with Period1 and Period2 set identically, it would not send video to FTP. So, I'm able to get IVS video events to post to FTP with the NVR. However, it seems strange the cameras are missing this feature. Anyone have any...

    Issue with storage (nvr4208-8P-4KS2)

I have a similar event from this morning: Change Working HDD: /dev/sdb(3)-->/dev/sdb(0) reas I think it's normal, but not 100% sure. I'm assuming one drive filled up and switched recording to the other? Sorry I don't have any more info.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Have you checked your log file for an accidental Format? Maybe it got clicked and wiped out some of your older recordings?

Recording to FTP when IVS is tripped

Hi folks, I have a bunch of IPC-HDW5231R-ZE and IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE cameras hooked to a Nvr5216-4ks2 from @EMPIRETECANDY . I record 24/7 but want I'm trying to write a simple web app for my wife to review IVS events. From what I can tell, I don't seem to have an option to record to FTP after IVS...

Hmmm, check the tabs on Storage -> Advanced and make sure both drives are in one HDD group and that on subsequent tabs, everything is recording to that group.

Check your settings in Storage -> Basic. You might have your auto delete setting to something like 14 days.

Best practices for setting up IVS

Ugh, what a waste of time. I think when I was hooked to my old Q-See NVR before my new NVR arrived it messed up some settings in the cameras. I reset the new cameras to defaults while hooked to the new NVR and all is working correctly. In case anyone searches for this, it seems some rebranded...

    Security film on residential windows

I have a ton of security film and did a decent amount of research. Lots of residential installers will tell you that you don't need attachment. Seems to be about 1/2 true. With plate glass and no attachment, the film will slow the bad guys down. With tempered glass the security film makes it...

Best practices for setting up IVS

Ok, I think my confusion might be either a setting or a firmware issue. I can't get IVS working on my IPC-HDW5231R-ZE cameras. I have no problem with IVS on the IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE cameras. I think all the settings are the same between the two, but need to check one more time. I've been...

Recording on SD card on IPC-HDW5231R-ZE

Have you tried swapping the SD card that is recording 2.5 days into one of the 3 hour cams? If so, what happens? I'm a newbie to Dahua stuff, but I know dashcams and some android phones/tablets can be really finicky with SD card brands, types, etc.

Best practices for setting up IVS

Hi all, I recently started upgrading an old Q-See system with an Nvr5216-4ks2, and IPC-HDW5231R-ZE and IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE cameras from @EMPIRETECANDY. All the basic stuff is done and I'm recording 24/7. I just got around to configuring IVS and I'm a little confused on the best place to do all...

Problems with older camera and new NVR

It can do ONVIF, and it behaves the exact same way. My best guess is that the video feed is fine, but after connecting for a little bit the NVR tries to sync and update some settings (time, etc.). Perhaps the old firmware isn't totally compatible and the API call hangs the camera until the call...
