Gotcha. For some reason I kept pulling up the 4 camera setup for $599. That 8 camera setup shows $799+tax for me, although I thought i saw it for $699 a while back. EDIT: What is bad about the NVR? At a minimum, you can shuck a 2TB HD and get a decent amount of cat 5.

What package ends up at $100/camera?

I'm also on an older i5 and wondering what it can handle. What changed between the initial problem of grossly overloading the processor and the current situation with sufficient viewing and 50% processor?

This is unfortunate. Would love to see this added. I have a couple areas were one camera flows into another. Reviewing both at the same time would be "ergonomic".

I'm using IPC-HDW2231R-ZS. I'm adding a couple cameras and for a little more would love to up resolution if low light stays the same or better. Since you have both, how would you compare the 5231 to the 5442 full color? Does your 5442 not do B&W at all?
