Upgraded Computer, now with worse performance!

So Hammerhead786, what happens with an electrically conductive thermal compound if you accidentally get it over components and or pathways and power up the system? Answer, possibly a very expensive lesson. I can tell you exactly how much you would need to use if you'd like? But I thought it...

    ARG! Frustrated with SD Card

Ah, even better Murphy625. Still a pain though. The power cycling will have just rebooted and reposted the cam, and during the process the cam will have reloaded or remounted the card. At least we've worked out an easier fix together Murphy625, which is good.

    ARG! Frustrated with SD Card

I was wondering about that myself Murphy625, I don't see much use for it with a camera and especially with the nightmare you had to go through to remount it. But with an NVR it would be awesome, as run low on space or got a new HDD on a deal and unmount, pull the drive and install the...

Upgraded Computer, now with worse performance!

crw030, I'm not too sure what has happened with nyc2pit's heat sink but something is definitely not right with it. But I never use the one that manufacturers provide, as they're usually noisy and inadequate at removing heat effectively. And I can recommend IC Diamond by Innovation Cooling, as...

    ARG! Frustrated with SD Card

Murphy625, hotswapping allows you to swap a drive while a system is still running and without causing corruption. So when you clicked on hotswap you told the cam to unmount the flash drive, so that in theory you could pull the drive and replace it. Glad to hear it's sorted now though.

Please help! I have no idea what I’m doing!

SouthernYankee, of course they have to be correctly wired. But that's covered by the rj45 standard, anything else is a deviation from that standard. https://cablesupply.com/rj45-ethernet-wiring-color-guides/ https://www.showmecables.com/blog/post/rj45-pinout

Upgraded Computer, now with worse performance!

Hello nyc2pit, depending upon how much space you have to play with Noctua do some dammed good heatsinks with quieter fans. And IC Diamond is a good thermal compound, it doesn't conduct electricity so you can use it liberally without any major issues.

HDD not recognized in Dahua NVR5216-4KS2

Hello Evan434sbc, may we ask what firmware version the NVR is running? As I'm wondering about HDD support in different versions, so later ones may have more HDD compatible with them. It's just an idea.

    ARG! Frustrated with SD Card

Murphy625, sounds like you need to remove and reinstall the SD card or you could try cycling the power (turn it off and back on again). As it sounds as though you've unmounted it.

Please help! I have no idea what I’m doing!

The main thing that I've learned looney2ns, is that as long as an ethernet cable is terminated with rj45 connectors it's all good. CAT8 cable is only just hitting the market, but the improved shielding and lower resistance sounds interesting. But prices aren't good yet and it's going to be a...

Also isn't CAT6 better than CAT5 and CAT8 better than both?

Forgot to mention that CU CCTV will provide free shipping for orders over £200, which can be useful. And as djernie has said take your time, check out footage from cams that interest you on YouTube and everywhere you can. As there's an awful lot available to choose and confuse you.

    Favor Please?

You may consider a reinstall in the future beepsilver, you can use the Microsoft Media Creation tool to make an installer for the latest version until they update it again. And if you do decide on a reinstall, I'd advise you to look into using diskpart to Zero Fill Format the HDD for a really...

    NVR5216-4KS2 vs NVR5216-4KS2 V2

When the fan quits mazut, replace it with a Noctua one of same size. You will definitely notice a difference.

Please help! I have no idea what I’m doing!

Dahua eyeball style cameras with a full metal housing are definitely not easy to pop, as the housing is secured by a torx screw which will allow for some great face captures as it's on the front of the housing.

    Help with cable run layout?

rufunky, the Dahua DH-PFA130-E mounting boxes may be of interest to you as well. Perfect when used with metal conduit tube. And is there any way to get closer to the 3 proposed camera positions. As you could go through the wall, into a mount/junction box and then run metal conduit between...

    NVR5216-4KS2 vs NVR5216-4KS2 V2

Hello mazut, the fan will work but it'll be an okay one that certainly won't be quiet. But you can always replace with a Noctua fan or the likes, as Noctua fans can be much quieter in comparison.

Hello beepsilver, were you able to sync before Windows 10 updated? As I've noticed over time that every time it updates, it seems to break components.

Hello zen200, another UK member here. I found a place in the UK called CU CCTV and they're willing to sell to us common folks and not just installers (think a small large fee added on top of components), seems that they order everything from OPREMA a massive CCTV supplier in Wales. That's if...

    Jerky recorded footage

garmcqui, you meant I Frame not frame rate. As I Frame or Frames are usually set at around 1× or 2× the frame rate. But no worries, it's an easy mistake to make. And shutter speed varies, as at night you'll need a lower shutter speed to cope with low light and during the day you can use a...

    Intel Driver Availability

fenderman, don't forget the Intel Driver Update tool. As it's best to run that first to get the latest drivers. And it may possibly be a good idea to update the BIOS, and adjust BIOS settings as required. And for unknown drivers, AIDA64 is a must have tool. https://www.aida64.com

    Jerky recorded footage

To expand upon what SouthernYankee has asked, what are the specs and components of the PC you're using garmcqui? And you could possibly try doubling the I Frame to 30 and possibly try increasing the shutter speed as an experiment, make sure to take note of the original settings and also any...

Anyone ever try to modify a solar landscape light to use an IR Led?

That would have been a big project, but also nice due to the fact that you could have offset your bills and possibly retrofitted it over time as needs be. May I ask if you could sell power where you are in the world? As in the UK it is possible.

Anyone ever try to modify a solar landscape light to use an IR Led?

I was thinking that you may be able to repurpose some tech Murphy625. You could use an alternator, prop, vane, batteries and a control system. Then if low voltage lighting is used it could well work. But as with all things, it comes down to cost. Also, where do people sell their older wind...

Not as sensitive as I hoped

There's always the Counter Strike sound sample of an AWP being fired with reload, that's another good one to use. But trying to emulate a Chemical Brothers or Daft Punk gig is probably more my style. Lasers, Strobes and a wall of sound just ticks so many boxes you just have to use it. And I'm...
