Just another thing to add to what confuses me about Blue Iris's network IP camera configuration panel. Practically none of my cams have the dropdown at the top set to RTSP, yet Blue Iris uses RTSP for them anyway.
I am having trouble getting just SOME of my cams to show the sub stream. All of my cams are Dahua with a variety of models. Most work correctly but here are few that no matter what I have tried to put in sub stream box in BI and cam's gui will not work. Its just as if they are not seeing the sub stream at all.
Here are the two culprits:
Here are few of the settings I have tried so far that do work in other Dahuas:
Here is what worked as far as GUI setting in other cams:
Both of these support 3 streams and I have also tried using stream 1 or 2 and each one at a time etc.....

Try changing the main stream params to load the sub stream. This will tell you if BI can successfully pull the stream at all. (Delete the Sub stream section while you are testing this)
@Tinman I have two 4231EM-As cameras and both are working fine. I'll get a screen grab later of the settings, when I have a little time, for you.
Edit - Just had an epiphany. Both of mine, in fact all my Dahuas, are set to "Generic ONVIF" for a camera type. Maybe give that a try rather than Dahua RSTP.

Yes I use that on a few too....but nothing here seems to work. I just did what BP2008 suggested and it indeed pulled the sub stream when I put that is main window, but when I set it like this, I get only main:

It is possible the camera doesn't have a powerful enough computer onboard and it is rejecting your attempt to pull too many streams at the same time. Do you have anything else besides this one Blue Iris instance pulling video from it?

I noticed I had trouble opening both a main and sub stream from my Dahua 1831 (4K) cam in VLC media player. I already have one BI instance pulling a main stream from it, and another BI instance pulling main + sub. So I had trouble getting a main stream open on a third machine.

Yes I could not get anything to see in VLC player yet....but I did try to disable cam in main BI but still no luck. Also the same model of cam does work with it streaming to other BI instance as well. I am now getting bugged and need to go to work But I will post back later what I figure out or not ! Thanks for the input !
First off, Thank you for the time and effort. I set my cam and BI to exact settings, but still nothing. I am running a little different model or firmware than you. The real kicker here is that I am running the exact cameras (9 to be exact) all same model and firmware, but a couple of them just won't put out 2 streams. The sub stream is working as I proved that with bp2008 suggestion to put that string in the main slot and it indeed works. At this point I am stumped, but will continue to play with it. BTW I tried 5.2.7.7 and still no luck
