5.2.7.0 - RTSP sub-streams for high-MP cameras

I can still easily get the main streams in UI3 by turning on audio, but hearing every bird and car coming through every camera at once is a little overwhelming lol. Not that big of a deal if I'm just looking at one camera at a time, as I can just turn the volume down and still see the main stream.

Not sure what would happen if there was audio on the sub streams, or if that's currently even possible to enable.

Either way, I'm patient.

I as understand it, you can enable the audio on each camera and disable enable audio on the group webcast settings.

I have audio turned on for all my cams, but I'm still getting sub stream in UI3. Mine is very obvious to tell because I am running a real low quality bit rate.

I rolled back to 5.6.2.5 because there are too many things wrong with the "7" series. Clips were all out of order, even after database rebuild, crashes on playback, clone clips not displaying with the "main" camera (well that's still a problem) and just, what felt like, laggy, strange, response on the console. Maybe that was me. I'll wait a while before I update again, like maybe 5.8.x.x or so.

I also had the clips on just one camera not right. I have mine record cont. in 30 min. clips. This cam was showing like 19 days and so many hrs !! I also did the rebuild and it then gave me file not found on a couple of cams. But all seems ok now at least so far for me on 5.2.7.9 I'm sure eventually all will be good again.

I have two clones of one camera and am using the reduced bitrate system. One clone shows in the alert list and the other doesn't. The clones are both configured the same, in terms of grouping for alerts. I had the whole database seemingly messed up. Alerts would be displayed normally then right in the middle of the afternoon a few from early morning would crop up. Playback of a 4MP camera would crash the console.

Given the magnitude of this update, the low bitrate system, it's not surprising there are some glitches and my hat is off to Ken for tackling this kind of a major upgrade.

I've been looking at all sorts of ways to reduce CPU usage with 6x 4MP Hikvision ColorVu cameras.
Using subtream, down from 45% CPU usage to 7-10% CPU usage!

My Parameter so substream:-
/Streaming/Channels/102?transportmode=unicast&profile=Profile_1

Shows low quality in small view, then when you double click to show full screen - goes to full quality - excellent!

I haven’t tried the substreams, but I updated to 5.2.7.9 because my cameras kept crashing (“Camthread thread killed”) on the “stable” 5.2.6.5, and now my GPU usage has doubled and is unusable (like 5.2.5.x days). Even after a fresh install. Argh

I think I've been following this thread fairly well, but haven't seen this mentioned... Has anyone else noticed overlays no longer show when soloing a camera? Did a setting I don't know about get unchecked in an update on 5.2.7.*? Or did they ever show...now I'm questioning my memory... They definitely still show in group view.

Did you mean you're missing overlays on BI5 itself or UI3? I still have overlays on both, whether I'm looking at group view or a single camera, so I assume it's a setting you'll need to adjust.

Aaaaannnnd...... 5.2.7.10 is out, and I have it installed. No idea what changed, but I'll keep an eye on it.

When you solo view a cam in the BI GUI, you are the using the main stream. The overlay will only show up in the sub stream.

BI crashed for me yesterday running 5.2.6.5 for the first time since, well, ever. I had to log-in to the VM and restart it. I've never had to do that in the year since I've been running it.

Look in windows "event viewer" under windows logs/application and look for the time it crashed. Running BI in a VM is always risky and not recommended.
Its not the VM that was the cause of the crash. Been running rock steady like that for a long time. As soon as I updated it to the new "rock stable" it crashed.

Anyway its been running fine since the restart (24 hours ago).

I never stated it was the VM that caused it to crash. Look in the VM you are running at the event viewer and see what happened. You won't get much support here though using a VM.
