$69 motorized varifocal 4x (2.8mm-12mm) Longse

In terms of IQ it's not the same level as s500, it's basically a Huisun in a smaller package.
yeah - but the huisun firmware is more familiar to Hikvision installers. Too bad Huisun doesn't offer the motorized varifocal sans pan/tilt.

if this can refocus quickly it'll beat most everything else w/motorized varifocal under $100.. most of them I researched took a long time for them to focus. I think its because they dont have a back-focus to move the ccd for the fine stuff.

it'll be nice if there is a cheap model out there that works as well as its bigger and more expensive counterparts.

@klasipca are any of those 3-axis? Im told by longse that they are not...at least for the 5mp that use those housings..
I am not sure why they would say they are not? They can move every direction and rotate 360 degrees. Both mini and bigger dome function the same.

Briefly played with both and managed to brick the VF dome within 5 minutes, hopefully it's recoverable. The PTZ controls were acting up and I saw new firmware which had some weird transitional firmware requirement. It seemed to install ok, but now I can't do anything with the cam. I can only login to it and ping, but that's about it. So I am stuck with it until Longse can help me out. I did see the IQ briefly before this happened and it seems pretty much identical to Huisun cam without IRs and I didn't get a chance to test its night vision capabilities.

Smaller dome turned out to be underwhelming in terms of audio. It works, but it's not as sensitive as Dahua I had. There is a tiny little hole in the back which might be the cause of that, so I am planning to open it up and see inside.

While I sort out issue with VF dome, here are some snapshots from the mini turret, overall it's decent, obviously not as good as flagship Longse s500, but it is quite compact and works very well

It's totally my fault, I was in a rush and picked up wrong firmware to upgrade the camera which happend to be major release which doesn't allow downgrading, luckily it didn't brick the camera, but it made it unusable so I can't adjust focus or control Zoom function. Today spent some time with Longse tech support using Team Viewer, unfortunately they couldn't do anything about it, just said I need a "new flash"... There is no telnet/ssh obviously with these cams, where Hikvision has an advantage.

So what is the next step for you then? Are they creating a custom flash to send to you to "fix" it?

Thanks for posting @klasipca - I'd be curious to see how the IMX124 sensor does with no IR in a night scene if you'd be so inclined. Curious to see what the starvis tech is capable of in a naturally lit scene.

I posted the samples on previous page.

is it just me, or does the Dahua images look a bit clearer than the Longse?

It does, but youtube videos I've seen of the imx124/s2l look really good in day time. Either its just not great in lowlight or longse are putting low quality lens on it.

@klasipca, would the LRDC60XA200 work outside under a protected porch? It is outside but would never get rained on. Also have you been able to resolve the issues with it?

Thanks, Bob

I'll do better shots when a get a chance, but both Dahua and that Longse mini dome seem to exhibit the same issue where distant objects are not clear and I am guess it's due to lens. Both cams are with 2.8mm lens. Up close shots are very good with mini dome

Yes, I have been using the same turret S500 for 3 month under eaves outside. Also in other thread someone took it apart and mentioned it's probably waterproof they just didn't mention it in the specs. No, it's not fixed, they would need to release a new firmware specific to this cam which might be a while... I will know more next week.

Hope you get it resolved soon. Waiting for some night shots to see how it is. I would get the S500 but it is not wide enough at 6mm.

S500 comes with 3.6mm option, it's almost as wide as 2.8mm
