Are WD Purple HDs still the best upgrade option?

I am looking to upgrade my BI computer's 2GB standard drive. Right now I have 8 x 2mp cameras, a 2mp x 4 camera and may be adding a few more 2MPs or larger in the future. I'm thinking an 8TB may be about right for a few week's 24/7 recording and I'm seeing WD purple 8TBs for around $225 on Amazon and NewEgg.

They are referenced in the cliff notes. Are the WD Purples still the best way to go?
Any advantage to the 5400s vs. the 7200 speeds?

I noticed WD is making a Purple SD card now too. Can anyone attest to their quality vs. the Samsung EVOs suggested in the cliff notes?

Thanks!

I use the seagate skyhawks also, A few members have reported that they see no difference between the 5400 vs the 7200, If you can get a good deal on the Seagates, I personally would do it.

I have been using multiple WD DC HC530. So far so good :D

WD purx are still the best HDD drivers for video data storage

I’ve used both. Seagate seems a little more noisy. Right now I’m running WD purple 1x8TB and 1x10 TB. No problems so far.

I run WD purple, just orderd another 8 TB purple for a new build.

Thanks for the input.
I'm going to wait a few more days...Maybe there will be some cyber Monday sales
