Trying to get the GUI going and it just seems stuck starting the service. From the UI3 interface I can see memory usage has jumped way up. Not sure what started this. I haven't updated any thing at all in quite some time. No driver updates and no BI updates....zilch, nada, nothing. The only thing I did was to unhide some hidden clone cams I had but nothing else I can think of. But last night I had this same exact setup running in the GUI including having the clones unhidden at the time. Any suggestions to get this thing unstuck and going. Already rebooted the computer a couple of time.

I don't think it's a memory leak issue. Seems to shoot up in memory use immediately.

Look at the graphics drivers and make sure that Windows didn't sneak an update in on you.

Did you have hardware acceleration set to on for the hidden cameras? Often when HA is set to on but its not supported we see crashes. The freezing of the startup notice is on. I would disable HA on the hidden cams you enabled...you will need to edit the registry.

Same graphics driver I've been using for some time. It wasn't updated.

I edited the BI registry and changed IP_HWACCEL for all the hidden cams and clones from 0 to 2. Memory usage dropped some but still higher than it had been. The BI GUI is still stuck loading with it saying "CREATING WINDOW...."

Try completely disabling HA

Also any chance you are running a network drive for storage? or some sort of storage setup that is different than usual?

Is that drive working and accessible?
Not 100% sure yet. The reason I say that is I can pull up UI3 to access my headless BI system and thought I'd prove the READS are working correctly but I can't seem to get it to play a clip. I see the alert clips but when I click on one to play it UI3 just "spins". Also, normally when you hover the mouse on a clip it plays a series of frames to give you an idea of what's in that clip. But nothing happening when I do that. Kind of not looking good but just not 100% sure if it can't read from what is being stored on it. I'll take a closer look tomorrow.

If you can't get BI to load and you could before, see if any of the registry backups in the BI program files directory is old enough to work.
I went one revision back on the backups. No dice. Now I have bigger problems as the computer seemed to get hung up after I had rebooted a couple of time of trying different things. So, I held the power button down on this Dell Optiplex 7040 and now I get the screen below. I could no longer RDP into the PC so I had to pull it down and put a monitor/keyboard on it to find out why. Guess I'll open up a thread for assist on this issue. There is no removable storage on this box. Just a M.2 NVMe for the O/S and the WD Purple drive for BI storage.

I would shut it down and disconnect the M.2, HDD, and RAM sticks and then reconnect them and see if that gets you going. It is rare, but sometimes the connection loosens up. I had a RAM stick do that to me once.

Or it could be a failing drive and it just is calling it removable.

Well, this is effed up so far. When I went into the BIOS I see that Diskette Drive boot is checked and it's the first boot device listed. There is no Diskette Drive in this system. How the system decided to check that box on its own is beyond me. Anyhow, I uncheck it then reboot. The error screen above goes away (of course) but then the system hangs with the spinny thing going around and around. I unplug the WDC Purple drive then it boots right up. This tells me the drive is probably shot. Maybe it was on it's way out yesterday when this problem started and it was unfortunate that I happened to be in the GUI and un-hiding cams at the time. I think we've all been here before many times going WTF is going on.....LOL. At least the system is booting up now.

Yeah, that sounds like the WD drive has seen better days. About how old is it?

The spec sheet says for up to 1 million hours being used at 90TB/year and drive temperature of 40°C. So in theory 114 years LOL.

I have one going on 8 years. I am sure some folks here have them going even longer. But I am sure some have been around 4-5 years as well.
