Good to see things have changed since I was a fire fighter. The original Toyota Priuses were a nightmare to do an extrication on. I hung up my hat in 2009. I work from home, It really sucks
- I spend less money on commuting (No gas, tolls, increased wear on my truck)
- I spend less money on food, and eat better (My house has all the food already here)
- More free time, no commute time. And I can do things around the house in between working
- Commute traffic consists of 2 cats trying to trip me up, not 1000 cars actively trying to murder me in Houston
- Less stress, I'm at home with all my nice stuff
- Security is great too, something happens I'm already here
I can't imagine wanting to leave the house to go to work...

During work hours I would MUCH rather interact with people over IM than in person. Just so much less distracting. I don't go to work to have a social life, I go there to work and get money! Better yet, now If I want to I can socialize with actual friends during work hours. If I see my neighbor in the yard at 9:30AM, we can go have a chat, no worries. Someone wants to go hang out at 5:30 after work? No problem, I'm already at home so I can get ready and head out and get there. I don't need to leave work, drive all the way home, change, get ready and then drive somewhere else. Honestly my social life is better since working from home
I am 100% more productive at home than at work, and my entire team is the same way. All my equipment is better, no distractions, AC set how I want it, good coffee, real facilities (I'd much rather do a 2 in my own toilet
If my work said we would have to go back to the office, I'd put in my 2 weeks and find another job, and I suspect the rest would do. Its non-negatable at this point. I'd need a 50% or higher raise to go back to the office
I cannot see a single benefit to working from the office

I too wish people wouldn't go overboard with irrelevant issues. I don't see being stranded by a new EV as much different from when in the 60s our rich neighbors bought a new Lincoln Continental, and a the front suspension collapsed as they drove it off the lot. The good news is it didn't have to get towed very far. These design and assembly errors don't have a lot do do with the propulsion type. My former 2003 diesel GMC pickup would occasionally reboot while driving down the road and move the driver seat full forward. My current ICE Subaru won't allow adjusting the radio volume when in reverse, and it keeps the seat belt dinger going when the car is stopped and in park. Stupid design is not confined to EVs.
