I have several Hikvision cameras including a DS-2CD3145F which has a video resolution of 2560x1440. No matter what settings I use the bit rate never seems to go over 1Mbits. That is even when I set it to Main Stream, 2560x1440, constant bit rate @ 8192kbps, H.264. Main Profile and I Frame Interval 1. I know this are not ideal settings but should generate the highest bit rate but it's always around 1Mbps no matter what settings I use. Why does it not go higher?

Btw, I am basing the bitrate on what Blue Iris shows me in the status of the camera setting.

You are confusing bytes and bits. Multiply by 8.

Duh, BI uses a capital B = Bytes. It all makes sens now. I was always maxing out my upper limit so of course turning up the camera settings didn't increase the bit rate. Thanks!

I just tried to turn it up in the camera settings but the max allowed is the 8192kbps. Now I need to figure out what the optimal settings are to achieve the best image quality within that limited 8192kbps.

8192 is way more than sufficient. That camera will perform poorly in low light and at night regardless of bitrate.

Yes, at least for the front I need to get some better cameras. Too many to chose from...
