I'm trialing Blue Iris, and I've got 4 cameras up, but they all show the same video (video from camera 1). Is this a limitation to the trial version or is there some configuration issue?

The cameras are all hooked to the back of the nvr, and I have virtual host enabled in the hikvision nvr settings. so the cameras are accessable directly via the following list ('http://192.168.1.9:65001/doc/page/preview.asp', 'http://192.168.1.9:65002/doc/page/preview.asp', 'http://192.168.1.9:65003/doc/page/preview.asp', 'http://192.168.1.9:65004/doc/page/preview.asp')
And in a web browser all of those address/ports pull up the correct camera and I can watch the view feed there.

I have configured Blue Iris by adding 4 cameras and putting in the addresses from above and hitting 'find/inspect'. Each camera profile shows the correct 'discovery/onvif' port (65001, 65002, etc) and they all show the same value, 554, for the 'media/video/rtsp port' setting.

What am I doing wrong? I'd like to be able to view the 2nd 3rd and 4th cameras and not just the 1st!

If you are pulling the stream from the NVR, then you need to set the camera number in the blue iris video configuration tab. its there for a reason.
Pulling streams from the NVR instead of the camera is less then ideal...its always best to go straight from the cam to blue iris.

Thank you for the quick reply and helpful tips. Could you take a look at the attached screenshot? I've highlighted what I believe you are talking about, but changing this value still results in the same video feed being displayed?

Ok. stupid mistake, the stream path was incorrect and setting the 'make' to hikvision set the correct stream path with a var for the camera number setting I highlighted. So now I have all 4 cameras working correctly in Blue Iris.
@fenderman Thank you for the help I really appreciate it. What did you mean though about pulling the stream from the camera and not the nvr? How would you suggest I be doing this?

Use a Poe switch...

@federman Wouldn't having ethernet connections ports/cables on the exterior of your building connected directly to a switch or router be a massive security hole?

Only in the movies..Do you think a hacker will come to your home? You also have the same issue with your NVR....You can isolate your cameras on a vlan to protect against this if you wish...

I'm not worried about hackers coming to my home, I'm worried about any one of the tenants deciding to plug a laptop into one of the many ports in the hallway or on the sides of the building. I would imagine it is just a matter of time until one of their kids decides to mess around. I will look into securing the nvr, and your tip of using a vlan.

@fenderman I felt your comment to be dismissive of my concerns. I am surprised that you take this so lightly considering you are staff member of a website with focus on security cameras.

Use conduit, route wires in such a way they can't be accessed.
Don't put switches in locations that can accessed by the public.
It will take planning and thought, as each building is different.

You can get a switch that does port authentication and cameras that can authenticate on port; if the camera is unplugged they dont get network access w/out auth credentials.

All my modern Dahua cameras support it,

Typically this involves running a radius server and some enterprise/managed networking equipment..

alternatively secure the cabling and leave any unused network jacks unplugged from the main switch.

@looney2ns @nayr Thank you, I'll look into that camera authentication and see if there is a comparable functionality on my already purchased hikvision cameras. Thanks again.

I take it lightly because it's insanely to worry about it in your application.. ...You have watched way too much tv...You can whitelist IP addresses if you wish as well..This would stop your average neighborhood kid..But the concern is silly..

@fenderman You do not know my application, you do not know who I am. You are making assumptions.

Yeah I figured you'd be reading it. Alright, I'm done, I'll figure it out. Thanks again for the vlan tip.
