You do realise that there's a disconnect between what the weird algo is feeding you (and Musk, by the tweets I've seen he's made) and reality. There's a bait-click headline going around the USA today "Trump refuses to rule out use of military force to take control of Greenland and the Panama Canal". A reporter asked a gotcha question if he'd rule out using the military, with the reply:
“I’m not going to commit to that, it might be that you’ll have to do something. The Panama Canal is vital to our country.”..."We need Greenland for national security purposes."
He gives an honest answer to something that likely hasn't been seriously discussed which gets turned into click bait by lefty-driven AP and reprinted all over the place. By tomorrow most of Europe will probably be thinking an attack is imminent.
I'm not commenting on anything specific in this thread because I don't have any inside information. I can use Ukraine as a representative example, however. There are big media and social media reports all over the place with their own agenda. One can cherry pick as desired to create totally opposite "truths". My response is to mostly ignore all of them as agenda driven propaganda,

I had to Google that specific instance, as I'm not familiar, seems he only got a phone call, not "jailed" as the X algo likes to suggest? I didn't watch the YT vid so correct me if I'm wrong.
Most sane people I interact with in the UK would be of the opinion that a call or physical visit from the police for this would be overkill, a phone call if you're being a weirdo about it might be justified, but otherwise unnecessary.
If he's ex-police, someone might have it in for him so reported everything he did until they had to do at least something (phone call)?
If I wanted to be cynical, I could see how he would milk the story to advance his organisations...
In my corner of London, at least, from what I've seen/heard myself, I feel like the era of the woke policing has already peaked and is slowly going back to normal. It had started a while back, COVID fanned the flames and it's started to die back down with some common sense now reappearing. It's never been as crazy as the tiktok/X/etc algorithms make out- yes there is some bat-shit crazy policing that's gone on, but various outlets have amplified it to suit their agenda. Biggest issue with the police right now is the lack of them/resources to actually solve any crimes due to various reasons including budget cuts.
If you wanted to "hate on Britain", popular opinion seems to be on the long waiting times for medical access/treatment (not always, it's more nuanced than "NHS sucks), the shoplifting epidemic thats the problem-du-jour, and the private water companies dumping sewage in rivers claiming they need to raise bills. Lastly, phone snatching on ebikes could be a valid concern for city centres, but even this is blown up a bit by the algorithms because it gets responses, whereas the need for long term investment in critical infrastructure, isn't so appealing for likes/emoji....

Your “algos” aren’t feeding me shit. I scan literally dozens of news sources each day. Print, TV, social media, I choose what to believe after I see enough evidence across a multitude of platforms. Apparently you only get news from the BBC. Not sure youve noticed but MSM TV news is all but dead here because they promoted propaganda when the had a monopoly and now that they don’t, people are tuning them out.
Musk is far from the only one calling it out. There are literally thousands of reports across various media channels doing so, in fact he was late to the party. I agree with some of what he says and disagree with some other. He’s not even in my top 10 trusted sources.

One of the big Europe based media companies is Axel Springer SE. Besides a huge European presence it also has a big USA presence with Business Insider and Politico, both widely parroted by major USA "news" outlets. IMO (in my OPINION, don't want to get sued for slander) pretty much everything it says political is false. Thinking of that, plus NYT, Wash Post, LA Times, AP, Reuters etc, etc, you pretty much can't believe a thing from USA news. Even the conservative outlets that started out clean are succumbing to click bait over truth. Is BRITISH news a better source to cite than USA news? Or am I off base in my assessment of USA news?
