Be sure to study the cliff notes.
Autotracking is very hit and miss, it depends on how well set it up, your location, number obsticales in the cam view, etc.
It will either work semi ok, or it will annoy the bejezus out of you.
More stationary cams are always better than depending on autotracking.

Just following up on this. Been running the April 4th firmware for a few weeks and the camera has apparently remained stable.

Thank You Looney for that honest advise I am going to take it thank you so much for that. I have ordered Some Star camera
    IPC-HDW5231R-ZE
instead of auto track which are like 170 each I ordered two from Andy. I think You are right more camera instead of auto track is better. I heard IPC-HDW5231R-ZE is a pretty decent quality. So went ahead with it I am very new to all this still learning blueiris anyways So I guess that leaves me Can I have a decent PTZ camera without auto track for best bang for buck ?

Brian, do you find that this firmware continued to resolve your reboot issue?

Ha...our cams are about same age. I am running newer firmware (04-04-2018) which gives you a few more stats....but that was about all I found that it changed for me. Curious though, next time you clean your cam lens, note if you have any film spots on inside of lens cover. I'm going to clean mine someday when the snow melts off the roof and plan on documenting the procedure. They affect the view only when sun hits lens in late afternoon, but it's still annoying.

I bought this camera from Andy’s @EMPIRETECANDY amazon store on cyber Monday (only because I had amazon credit). I’m very happy with the purchase and the camera has been performing great. I would say 25x is more then enough by any metric for a residential install. I still can’t help but wonder what a 45x would look like though the neighborhood does not have street lights but the IR go pretty far. so I get a lot of reflection from the stop sign

Here is my was my quick 3 hour install so I could start playing with it. (Post 9) Black Friday Plan 23rd.Nov-25th.Nov 2018

Here’s an example of the zoom. I find it pretty impressive for paying under $350

Has anyone had experience leaving one of these cameras up during a hurricane or would it be recommended to take it down? I assume the latter lol

Yes, this camera is very good for home users if no need autotracking function.

Andy, do you know anything about the SD49225T-HN unintended rebooting issue that many of us are dealing with?

You'd have to ask Andy: send a private message to @EMPIRETECANDY thumbsup.gif

Because he doesn't encourage it - or support it.
I attempted to return my screwed up SD49225T-HN with a life log of 5 days and Andy said it was too many months (3) for any warranty support even after I explained and documented that it had been in the shipping box for 2 1/2 months due to the installation location not being ready.

You're frustrated and angry; I don't blame you. My SD-49225T-NH has been offline for days. I haven't bothered to power cycle it because...well...what's the point...it'll just crap out another 20 times in the next 24-hours if I do. topic_angry.gif

After importing the 11/24 factory reset config back up and configuring the set up I was getting reboots for about 3-4 times a couple of hours apart, after downloading the 4/4/ firmware zip package it stopped rebooting so I haven't installed the 4/4 firmware. I think the best description of our problem is it's dependably unstable.
Incidentally I changed the "clock.isc.org" time server to "time.nist.gov" and it works Ok. One thing that might make the reboots stop (for a while) is:
Prior to removing power, disconnect the LAN, wait a couple of minutes, disconnect power, wait a couple of minutes, reconnect DC power, wait 5 minutes, connect the LAN.

Who'd want it. But how about a Dahua pinata party instead.
