Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

I'm really looking at getting one of these. I just have to figure out where to mount it. If I mount it at the end of my house I have a gutter that is kind of in the way. If I mount it at the end of my house I lose sight of some of the street. Is there any place on here that shows different mounting options. I did see the mount it comes with but I may need one that mounts to a soffit or a pole that is up higher at my peak. I just want this cam but need to figure out my best option. If I sent some pictures does anyone think they would be able to help me with placement? Thanks.
it's easy to check here, and select which one suits your using.

PFA support. :headbang::headbang:

Just tested it on some moving objects, panning motion, and it seems to work. (maybe a placebo effect) :P

Need to test it some more.

Use the IPVM tool to help with site lines. IPVM Camera Calculator V3

Does that mean, for example, an intruders face when on the move will also be less blurred when the camera is stationary?

No, it means, that the camera keeps focusing while zooming in on an object. I think, that it also keeps focusing while moving the camera. You could see it like a continuous focus when the lens moves.

Here you can see a demo of what Predictive Focus Algorithm (PFA) does / means:

I have tested it, and have to say that it works quite well :D

Does flashing this new firmware keep you from downgrading if you don't like it?
I can't recall off the top of my head which camera I was avoiding upgrading because the newer firmware had issues.
Just want to make sure I don't fix something that doesn't need fixing!

All right, I finally got my "getting started" set, that is:

1. NVR4108-8P-4KS2 (8 channel NVR)
2. SD49225T-HN (PTZ camera)
3. HDW5231R-Z (Turret camera)

I ordered them from @EMPIRETECANDY and I have to say his service was as good as you guys have been saying! Also I was very surprised to see that it took only less than 30 hours for them to arrive from Hong Kong to Finland via Germany! :eek: Of course then they got stuck in the customs and after I got that sorted out, they took two days to travel the last 250 kilometers, but that's another story :D

Although I have read this thread, I was still surprised how big and heavy this PTZ camera was! Now I am not sure where to start with setting all these up, but I think first I need to build some kind of testing rig for those cameras...

can someone remind me again what the power draw for this cam is on a POE+ switch?...vaguely recall it getting up to around 20 or 25watts? is that right?

So, it'd be nice if PFA actually worked as well as in that demo video. It doesn't in my SD59225U-HNI.

So I finished my test rig for both cameras :)

I tried my NVR first, and I managed to change the IP address so I can use it via my computer's browser instead of separate monitor. Apparently only Internet Explorer works. I wonder why there is no power button on NVR? Seems brutal to pull power plug off every time I want to shut it down. Also those HDD cables for both power and data are very short, so I might need to modify them a bit. The small fan seems to be very loud, but luckily it can be changed to something more silent (I seem to recall reading someone did that).

That turret is very close to falling, ring isn't latched on the back side.
You are suppose to go to the NVR's main menu and select Shutdown, before pulling the plug.

If the HD's are installed in the correct orientation. The cables should be fine.

Yeah, I know that turret is not securely attached, I did not drill the holes deep enough for the screws :) But I thought it seems to be secure enough, and it's not that heavy.
I tried to use old WD Velociraptor as HDD as I happened to have one extra, but that has extra cooling shield around it and that makes it a bit too big for those short NVR cables... I guess I have to open up my old HTPC and steal a normal sized HDD from there :)

I feel stupid, but I cannot find Shutdown from web interface :/ I don't use any software, just logged in to NVR's IP address. I did install Smart PSS that came with the NVR but there is no Shutdown either. Both have logout only. What (free) software you people are using to control NVR (and cameras) with Windows? I recall reading about Blue Iris, haven't tried that and don't know if it's free or not. This is what this default "WEB Service" looks like:

@Gilean

The Shutdown function is only available at the NVR itself, that means looking at the menu on the LCD screen connected to the NVR :)
