Dahua minidome catches guy casing house

My only apprehension about putting the key under the mat would be that they find the key doesn't work so just smash the window anyways; seems I've have caused an escalation that I really don't want.
if they are willing to smash the window they would not be looking for a key...just keeps them around longer...

This is true. The individual didn't even try the doorbell either, which would have made it entirely clear that someone was home. I'd hope with knowledge that someone is home they'd have not bothered as well. Hmm, time to keep a bat under the bed.

Criminals these days don't care much if anyone is home or not.

@Tygunn Are you still happy with the Mini-Dome?

I really like it given the options currently available. Big plus is the ability to easily take off the cover to paint it.

@Tygunn appears the suspect said something .. did you catch it?

Yes I did. I told them I had very clear footage of the event and the guy's face. Despite this they took the info and said they'd tell the night patrol that goes through my area.

That's the understaffed San Jose PD for you.

I'd send the footage to your local news station. At least where I live, they will often do a short 10 o'clock news story on it especially if you have other neighbors corroborating the same thing. Faster \ better coverage than the police.

I am tempted to put a sign under the mat that says, "nice try". But I've got so many dead keys that would be a nice trick too.

...or a sign that says "LOOK UP" lol.
