Dahua NVR 5xxx Series Firmware - V2.616 - 1/10/2014

New firmware for Dahua NVR "5xxx" series

► Works with motion detection when paired with Hikvision cameras.

► Updated Web Interface

***Do not attempt to install this if you do not know the series of NVR that you have. You could possibly brick your NVR***

Special thanks to: @Mike and @vector18

The new web interface alone is great, if it's the same one I've been using on my Dvr for a while.

I also like the interface. It's similar to an IP camera interface.

Ryan I assume this works with your nvrs. What is the matching model number with your nvr

Any of the Dahua 5xxx series. (Nelly's "ESDV-NVRX" series.)

I downloaded the file and tried to update my 5216 last night using the config tool... got an error message that the update failed. The unit rebooted and continued to work, but with the old firmware (V2.610). I then tried to update with the file on a usb memory stick directly on the nvr. Message said file not found. Are there different regional firmware files for this nvr (like the Hikvision cameras)? My nvr was purchased new on Ebay, so I don't really know where it came from.

The PAL version I found was a 94MB zip. Within that, the General_NVR5xxx_Eng_P_V2.616.0000.0.R.20140110.bin file is 23.5MB.

THIS file (and thank you for the post, BTW) is 16.3MB.

Is there a good reason NTSC is 2/3rds the size of the PAL version?

Exactly the same result I got on a 5216 running 2.610. Talked to my vendor a couple of times but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

Same here, and I'm loving it.

Bazooka and Dan, what is the full firmware version and build date? I might know how to get that update fixed for you.

I know that on some NVRs I've had to "downgrade" and then upgrade. Try renaming the file to update.bin and updating using the USB method.

I'm no coward, but if Joe wants to go first, I'm cool with it.

No luck with renaming the file to "update.bin". Even tried "upgrade.bin". At least the nvr still works!

Finally got it upgraded, and boy do I feel dumb.

Called the vendor again and got referred to another company. When I talked to the tech there, he had me turn over the unit and read the model number. "W-NVR5216P"

"P"? There was no "N" or "P" suffix on the website where I placed my order. I had assumed all along it was NTSC.

I used config tool to flash the file he sent me (exactly the same filename RyanODan posted) and it upgraded flawlessly. Now on 2.616.0000.0

Thanks to everyone for your help.
