I want to list the changes in the actual firmware which applies to the following models:
NVR5208-4KS2, NVR5208-8P-4KS2, NVR5216-16P-4KS2, NVR5216-4KS2, NVR5216-8P-4KS2, NVR5232-16P-4KS2, NVR5232-4KS2, NVR5232-8P-4KS2, NVR5416-16P-4KS2, NVR5416-4KS2, NVR5432-16P-4KS2, NVR5432-4KS2, NVR5464-16P-4KS2, NVR5464-4KS2, NVR5816-16P-4KS2, NVR5816-4KS2, NVR5832-16P-4KS2, NVR5832-4KS2, NVR5864-16P-4KS2, NVR5864-4KS2

Anybody who find changes to firmware version from 2016-07-21 could post it here.

Pro:
  • IVS Configuration seems to work from the NVR WebUI
  • IPC Visiting (Portforwarding was added in this firmware, so it is possible to access IPC WebUI on NVRs internal PoE Ports!)
  • NVRs local UI could be unlocked with unlock pattern like Android phones
  • Login to WebUI with no plugin (Possible to login to the NVR WebUI without downloading the plugin first. So it's possible now to get to the NVR settings from mobile devices etc.)

Con:
  • If you try to control multiple PTZ from SmartPSS or iDMSS with the NVR channels, only one specific PTZ is controlled every time, even if its not listed in the actual preview.

Neutral:
  • Password has to meet minimum 8 characters and at least two types of characters like upper case, lower case, numbers or special characters

Pro:
The bug about lost frames on event triggers appears to be fixed. Playback works smoothly on the web interface. On smartPss it's a little klunky with a short pause on the event trigger, and can't single step through an event trigger.

Could you please explain. Do you mean I can log into my NVR from my phone via the IP address of the NVR??

Before this update, if you were on a device that didn’t have the plugins, you couldn’t even login to the DVR. Now you can. So you should be able to login from your phone and make some config changes, but without the plugin, you couldn’t view video from the phone. You’d need the smartphone app for that.

Hmm, that would be awesome but it's not working on my android using androids chrome. It just directs me to download the plugin which obviously can't be installed on a phone.

I was hoping there would be an updated firmware available for NVR4216-4K as well. It also has the frame dropping problem. Does anyone know if it is available? @empirecandy

Same here, I just bought two of these as well. I wasn't aware this one had the same frame drop issue.

Question where to get the updated firmware? How can it be uploaded to the NVR ? I am not that familiar with this process and own a 5216-16p14ks2. Any help would be appreciated, my hardest part is getting the videos out of the NVR in MP4 format which as of right now renders my videos in dav useless. Might end up going blue iris for easier use as this NVR seems to have issues

I got the firmware from the icanhaz link in the 2nd post of this thread, and used the nvr's web interface to initiate the update. The thing that caught be surprise is that the update wasn't finished when I thought it was. After it appeared that it was finished, the web interface came up in chinese and I was fearing that I was hosed. Then after a couple of minutes it rebooted itself and came up in english.

Or download to USB then upload from the USB ?

Both ways are possible. Download to your pc and upload via WebUI or update using USB stick and OSD.

Thanks for the information.

I did find the firmware for NVR4216-4KS2. My unit is not a S2. I don't believe they are the same firmware. NVR4216-4K vs NVR4216-4KS2

I was wondering how you'd do this? The one USB port is needed for the mouse, so where do you plug the USB stick into? Is a USB hub needed?

My NVR has two USB ports, so I didn't have this challenge.

For the NVR5xxx it is the same, but for the NVR4xxx-4k i did also find only a version from 2016.

I updated to version 20170418 on my 5216-4KS2 over the weekend. The reboots have stopped and IVS doesn't have any dropped frames. However, I'm unable to get any gdmss notifications on my phone for IVS tripwire, motion detection, etc. like I was prior to the upgrade. Anyone else have this issue as well?
