Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

HD, I've had good luck with these for $11.99 on Amazon. They are IP65 outdoor rated, 12V with 4 LED's with 130 feet of range. Included pic is 52 feet away and helping an HDBW5231R-Z. Also, they have a photocell so they only turn on when necessary.

We needed more light in the corner by the man door and overhead door. It looked like the center of the picture before adding the IR cannon.

For that price I may try a few of them to brighten up that corner of my yard. 4 would cover perfectly probably. Running power will suck. But I'll figure it out.

Is the PFA136 or PFA137 the correct mount for this camera? The Dahua Selection Chart says PFA136 is...but a lot of people in this thread are talking about the PFA137. Confused :(

According to the Dahua Selection Chart pdf that was posted here, it looks like the HDW5 does work with the PFB203W. Why do you say it doesn't?

As above, the PFB203W and the PFA137 work with the HDW5231. You DON'T want to screw them through your siding, as stated above as well.

So it's ok to put the PFB203W into a vinyl mounting block then screw that into the vinyl siding?
For the PFA137 is it ok to screw into a vinyl soffit on my front porch?

I have solid wood under my soffit. Hell, the ends where I used the wall bracket to mount my cams it was at least 4" of 2x8's.just depends on how they built your house. I didn't use junction boxes and all wires are wrapped in super tape and stuffed up in the soffit where no water gets.

If your soffit will support the camera/PF137 junction box, yes it's fine. Mine is hollow and I would need support.

Just received 2x from Andy (woohoo!) and want to make sure the firmware is up to date. Does it matter whether I use the PAL or NTSC firmware (I searched but couldn't find a definitive answer).

Doesn't matter which ones you use since it saved in digital but it doesn't hurt to use the one that is standard in your country.

My soffit is hollow too... what kind of support? Is it easy to remove the soffit and put a piece of wood in there to screw it into through the soffit?

Depending on what type of soffit. In the newer home, most soffit are plastic type of material that basically snap in with interlocking joints. You would just locate those interlocking joints and unsnap it then it should easily come off which can be snapped back in place again after you install a piece of wood or material for the camera to mount on to.
