The fact that this camera model is still be being used across many CCTV systems throughout the world simply amazes me. Tried and true![]()
what are you going to swap it with?still using mine, but will retire it shortly
I’ve been using these for years without updating. With that change I’ll keep it that way. I don’t want to change what isn’t broken.I have 9 of these and it looks like Dahua firmware upgrade to V4.001.xxxxxxxx.x.R or later partially kills the zoom function. Instead of being able to partially zoom in and out, now you can only zoom fully out or in.
Try a different web browser (perhaps older, eg. an old version of Pale Moon 32 bit). Are you seeing this behavior in the web interface, blue iris, or a phone app?I have 9 of these and it looks like Dahua firmware upgrade to V4.001.xxxxxxxx.x.R or later partially kills the zoom function. Instead of being able to partially zoom in and out, now you can only zoom fully out or in.
I have tried Microsoft Edge, Firefox and Pale Moon on several computers. All exhibit the same, no partial zoom. It is possible to do a partial zoom by going to the NVR's> settings>camera> camera list > click particular camera "webpage"/ log into camera/ Settings/Camera/zoom & focus/.
I wish Dahua would correct this issue in their next update!!!!
Yes, SmartPSS does allow partial zooms. I haven't tried SmartPSS Lite though.Have you tried using SmartPSS Lite, you can control zoom from it
BTW, DMSS also allows partial zoom. Sot it look like the Dahua firmware killed the partial zoom feature for the IPC-HDW221R-Z cameras.Yes, SmartPSS does allow partial zooms. I haven't tried SmartPSS Lite though.
Do you mean you have 9 of the IPC-HDW5231R-Z ? If so where would I find this firmware? I'm currently on what I thought was the latest:I have 9 of these and it looks like Dahua firmware upgrade to V4.001.xxxxxxxx.x.R or later partially kills the zoom function. What is everybody using to manage their IPC-HDW5231R-Z in 2025?
I've been using IE mode in Microsoft Edge with the plugin installed as prompted when you open the web interface. However, the main view shows only a zoomed in partial piece of the entire image.
The playback function is unusable due to screen elements being cut off.
Is SmartPSS as mentioned above the ideal solution? Is there an in-browser option?
