Dec 2020 - Comparison of RTSP Doorbells

Oh that is interesting. I had assumed DoorBird would be rock solid. I'll have to research this forum to read more on its issues. The problem I have with Dbell is the application processor seems to shut down every few days in summer (the bell function continues to work) - my doorbell faces the sun and I'm always streaming to Zoneminder so I suppose the system gets overheated.

I'm going to migrate to a google coral device very soon - it seems to easily be able to handle real-time object detection across 12 of my cameras @ HD res. The models are quantized/slightly less accurate but great. I'm looking for a doorbell that can take the summer heat (Maryland,US) while constantly streaming.
You may consider this DB it is very popular and a fast seller:

But it does run hot too. I live in over 100 degree summer temps in the South and this DB made it through this past summer streaming 24/7 ok and so far no one has had theirs fry yet, but I think all of us have concern when any electronic device runs that hot.

Yes, the Android BI app supported 2way audio out of the box for me.

The max fps I tried on the DB11 was 20. It's possible it might go higher if you configure with configtooI, but I never tried

Could you share your blueiris settings to get the 2way audio to work? I cant get it to work. Are you also using imou side by side?

Sorry, I don't have the settings anymore. I removed the DB11 for the Hikvision. I just remember I didn't have to change anything in BI for 2 way. I was not using the IMOU app after the initial setup.

Because I tested 3 different intercoms (newest second generation HIK DS-KD8003, newest Dahua DHI-VTO2202F-P, newest Doorbell D1101V) on my desk in the same time - I can put this picture to comparison.
Left UP is HIK intercom, Left DOWN is Doorbird, Right UP is Dahua Starlight cam (5442) and Right DOWN is Dahua intercom.

Doorbird has worst noise (no noise reduction at all), HIK intercom is second worst one.. Dahua intercom and cam have the best image.

Doorbird D1101V was 671.00 Euro (flushed mounted, salt resistant front) and it has the worst image quality and mobile app speed over LTE.
It has big backlighted bell button and IR which can works all night. It overheats.
It send one mobile notification to IOS devices. Notification don't contain any picture.
It uses server located in Germany (no P2P/open ports config). It works as standalone device (no indoor station requirement).
Open documented API, working web hooks, big number of integrations (Web, ONVIF, RTSP, MJPEG, most popular home automation system have integration with Doorbird)...
Configuration only via mobile app.

HIK DS-KD8003 was about 210 euro with flush mounted frame. Second worst image. Good speed in mobile app over LTE.
It has big backlighted bell button and IR which can work all night. No overheat problems.
It send one mobile notification to IOS devices. Notification don't contain any picture.
It uses P2P or open ports. It DON'T WORK as standalone device - it require HIK indoor station - which works as voice server, push notification server and proxy to HIK Connect (P2P).
HIK offers many models of indoor station (for 120-250 euro extra) - and the more expensive have nice look, good screen technology (IPS) and modern User Interface.
This model is not ONVIF compliant (only HIK private protocol + RTSP), there is no web config page (closed port 80), no open documented API.
Some options can be setup over IVMS (more on PC, less on Mac), the rest is configured in indoor station.

Dahua DHI-VTO2202F-P was about 300 euro with flush mounted frame. The best image. Good speed in mobile app over LTE.
It has metal round bell button which is NOT backlighted. IR turns on only for 30 second after someone push bell button at night. No overheats problems.
It send one mobile notification to IOS devices. Notification don't contain any picture.
It uses P2P or open ports. It WORKs as standalone device (no indoor station requirement).
Dahua offers many models of indoor station (180-220 euro extra), but all are very cheap looking, old screen technology (TFT) and very ancient User Interface.
ONVIF compilant, SIP server&client, works with external SIP servers, RTSP, MJPEG... I found documentation for Dahua web API - but web hook implementation is more complicated.
Configuration via web config page. Mac SmartPSS see this intercom but don't offer any device config/live view...

Hi there, I'm new to the forum and have read this thread with interest.

I've had a Ring Pro which was pretty hopeless - three faulty units in less than 12 months, and the video quality was poor, especially at night. Currently have a Nest Hello but again, the video quality isn't anything to write home about and now Google seem to be "pushing" their subscription changes in your face at every opportunity. I'm also running a pair of external POE cameras into a BI server (which is fantastic), so...

...I'm looking into alternatives, hence my interest in this thread and the following question:

The HikVision/EZVIZ DB1 is particularly interesting due to it's high resolution, but I'm really not keen on the narrow horizontal view and I was wondering whether anyone can tell me if this viewing angle is "baked in", even on the RSTP feed, or is the RSTP feed simply a circular fisheye that the EZVIZ app simply crops to it's 105/180 degree view?

Thanks in advance :)

The natural feed for the DB1 is a portrait oriented view. The fisheye lens creates a pinhole or vignette like view where the four corners are blackened out.

This is my view in BI:

Gotcha. Do you use the app for its intercom? I also could not do this. It only allowed one or the other
Yes we do, not sure what you mean, one or the other. If someone presses the DB button we get a call on our phones, in that both my wife and my phone both ring since I have us both logged into the same account, I did not do the share account thing. Just to let you know this Call is not always consistent, in that there are times it is greatly delayed or no call at all, when it does work it seems to work good. We think the cloud may have issues at times to cause this. If I were to guess I would say it works 80-90% of the time since I got the DB a year ago, last year we had a lot of problems with this feature, but this year not so much, maybe they ironed out the problems.

HTH

I use both the app and BI and have no problem with the image. The DB is mounted just left of a side lite next to the door and I see everyone coming to the door and at the door perfectly.

Having used both, I would still go with the hikvision over dahua in this case, even if it weren't the right video orientation.

Of course everyone's situation is different, but here are a few reasons for me:
  1. In my area, porch pirates are present, so being able to see the floor (packages) is helpful
  2. The hikvision video quality (resolution and bitrate) is a touch better
  3. The Dahua app never worked as well compared to the laview app
  4. The community support for the hikvision is WAY better (thanks to David and countless others). This means the doorbell is a bit more future proof
  5. Aesthetically, the hikvision variants have more color faceplate options which makes it easier to match your house. The Dahua is just silver
Hope that helps with your decision

Hi
I'm new here. My English is not so perfect, sorry for that.
I have 3 points here:
  • Does someone know something about the new EZVIZ DB1C and RTSP?
  • Here in Germany I can't by the dahua db11 but IMOU DB11. Is it the same?
  • Take a look at alphago ALP-600. It comes with Poe but without wireless lan. A cloud is not necessary. But supports TCP/IP, SIP v.2.0, VPN, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SMPT, DDNS, DHCP, PPPoE, RTP, RTSP, UDP, NTP, ONVIF, Modbus TCP. I think it is a little expansive and maybe not available everywhere, but found it in amazon uk.

Thanks,
Tiffytaffy

I don't know anything about it except that I remember nominating it for the title of ugliest doorbell cam ever:

:D

LOL. yeah, the ALP-600 is.... something else.

IMOU DB11 appears to be the same based on appearance and specs. IMOU is the consumer-branded division of Dahua, so logically, it should be similar to an OEM DB11.

The DB1C looks interesting. Since it's new, I don't know if its in any distribution channels yet, but I will contact EZVIZ to see if they will send a review unit.

So... I went for the Dahua (Imou) and am pleased with the quality of video for my purposes. It's WAY better than both the Ring Pro or Nest Hello that I've had in the past.

However...

I can only get it to work as EITHER a BlueIris security camera OR a doorbell, but not both together??!

When my BlueIris server is connected to it the doorbell doesn't work (WiFi chime, mechanical chime... heck, not even an app notification). When I remove it from BI the doorbell (mechanical chime included) works perfectly.

I'm hoping that it's a config thing in BI (I've attached the LAN config page for the camera for illustration) and wondered if anyone has any insight as to how best to set the thing up for both BI and doorbell.

Otherwise, I'm going to have to send it back :-(

Thanks in advance...

Has anyone played with the Grandstream GDS3710 with the more recent firmware updates? Amazon reviews in 2020 seem promising and on paper it seems to hit all the points that I need for my office (ONVIF, RFID sensor for prox access, door control, POE powered).

I tried the Yoosee but it fried the day I got it - plugged the power adapter into it and smoke started coming out. I tried to initiate a return but their support was useless and I'll probably have to do a chargeback.

As far as I can tell the only other models that meet my requirements are the Doorbird which costs nearly twice as much, so I'm tempted to give it a shot and see if meets my needs.
