DH_NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.001.0000003.1.R.200813

I just reviewed the 27 page release notes from the first post and got a clearer "big picture" of the V4 firmware:

1. Lots of new features added that I will have little appreciation for because they're generally not in my usage model.
2. The local interface got some improvements I like. But I use the web interface and don't get them.
3. Maybe the major marketplace for the NVR primarily uses the local interface That would explain the lower emphasis on the web interface.

What I wanted most from the release notes was a clear statement of web browser requirements and compatibility. It's not mentioned at all, so we're on our own to figure it out. If IE is the only browser that works well, that needs to be clearly spelled out because even Microsoft is discouraging its use.

IE works for me as does Chrome and Safari. My guess is it’s a browser setting for you.

It's understandable ...

Dauha primary focuses its sales more toward to commercial and government uses where most would be using it locally (NVR) or a software of their own via ONVIF to monitor.

It was never intended to be use for customer home unless we go through some costly distributor so we are lucky enough to have someone like @EMPIRETECANDY willing to skip all the middleman and sell directly to us.

Andy does his best to correspond to Dauha with our feedbacks but it up to Dauha to consider if customer's need is a priority or not unless they can see it benefits the commercial or government as well too.

I been using mine remotely because I hid my NVR in an out of reach place at home then I just moved the NVR to another location where I can start using it locally. It a huge difference between using it remotely and locally. I almost never had an issue with using locally and I can see why Dauha probably don't get much feedback on remote feature since again like I mentioned most commercial and government use it locally or their own developed remote software with ONVIF support.where they are in control of it..

I installed chrome and it works pretty much the same as firefox and edge, e.g. many of the features are missing. As a spot check, when you playback a video, is the playback speed control available? (To the left of the audio volume slider, example pictures are in posts 20 and 21).

This is what it looks like. It did prompt to install web plugin.exe (2.51 MB).

This is a screen shot from Chrome? Mine doesn't prompt for the plugin, and I'd sure like to figure out what makes the difference! The Chrome I'm running is 83.0.4103.116, 64-bit.

No, IE Version 11.778.18362.0

Chrome doesn’t look as good so I use IE.

OK, so it's still the case that IE is the only browser that works correctly.

You may also try google chrome with IE tab extension
I wasn't aware of IE tab. From reading about it, it uses the actual IE to decode and render the web pages, so Chrome is just acting as the UI for IE. Works only on Windows machines with IE installed. I don't see any reason it shouldn't work correctly since it's IE doing the work.

Can I install this software using SmartPSS program or I must install it directly from NVR console?

Ref. your files on dropbox

1.8 Update Guide This product can be upgraded in 3 ways, including ConfigTool, local USB disk and WEB client interface.

Putting your .bin in a FAT32 USB pen, unplugging the HDDs, and rebooting the NVR is not sufficient to trigger the update.
What procedure did you use?

The files flash.bin, install.lua, and PartionTable.bin are missing.
Which one did you use?

The above Update Guide does not mention TFTP.
Does it mean that TFTP upgrade is deprecated?

The file https://www.dahuasecurity.com/asset/upload/download/TFTP upgrade instructor.pdf mentions update.img, but also this file is missing.

If I remember correctly, you have to go into the system settings menu with a local screen connected, go into the upgrade menu and pick "firmware upgrade". If the correct file(s) are missing, upgrade will not work. Again, from memory, you have to rename the file to "upgrade.bin" and then the NVR picks it up. As stated, I did this only once, 4 years ago. At this time, I always flash through the webinterface.

Good luck!

Hi!

Do you mean renaming DH_NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.001.0000000.3.R.200519.bin into "upgrade.bin"?

Suppose you either do not want or cannot upgrade using the GUI, so all you have available is the USB port and TFTP, what do you do?

I am tryng to install 4.001.0000000.3.R.200519 via the serial console.
My Dahua NVR lost its "environment" a few days ago.

postenv does not exist, but stenv works.

Oddly enough, certain "run" commands still work, or so it seems.

I need someone to post their environment here.

The idea is to manually reset those variables and "run" them in sequence.

I need to map those variables against the img files in this latest .bin.

Greetings all! apology for my bad english, need some help here. Since upgraded to v4.0001 model is nvr5208-8p-4ks2e, the upgrade went well everything works fine, the inbuild firewall was definitely helpful prevent attackers. One fine day i wanted add camera, i realize the NVR couldn't detect any newly plugged inbuilt POE cameras. In chrome web gui nothing is listed. Using Smart PSS it shows the NVR and external camera I plug directly into routers. Those existing already on POE switch works fine but i couldn't add any that is attached in POE, I happen to removed number 6 now i couldn't add it back anymore. I had upgraded to this current version you released but apparently didn't help.

One thing i did able to find the POE swtich camera is downgrade to DH_NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V3.216.0000006.0.R.20190223 it am to read all the POE switch camera but the WebGUI stays blank. So my plan is downgrade to v3.216 add those camera back then upgrade back to v4.0001

Any thoughts would be helpful if this is the path i have to go?
Also for v3.216 firmware what does flash.bin and PartionTable.bin do? should i flash them to gain access to Webgui?

Appreciate you help :)

I might have missed it in your story: what happens if you flash v4, factory reset and reboot the NVR. Does it work? My primary attack wouldn't be downgrading (because you won't stay on those versions anyway), but disconnecting all the POE camera's. Factory reset the NVR. Plugin your first camera whilst holding the factory reset button on the camera. It will powercycle and let the NVR find it and re-initialise. If the NVR finds cam 1, configure it like it used to be (eg IVS). Then redo the same task for cam 2. Incrementially add the camera's.

That should work.

Good luck!

This NVR has a latest new version again,

2. Slow operation after upgrading the new UI baseline
3. Fix the problem that ssd cannot log in using the old encryption method
4. Fix a potential fd leak in the network framework that causes the device to crash occasionally, and the configuration will restore the default after restarting.
6. Fix the problem of automatically kicking the channel when booting up
7. Fix the display overflow problem of ftp configuration interface and channel overlay interface
