DS-2CD2132F-IS not recognizing local mircoSD card

I recently bought a DS-2CD2132F-IS from a seller on Ebay specifically for the ability to record to a internal mircoSD card. I've tried several different SD cards in the camera and none have appeared in the Storage Management section in the configuration page and consequently I cannot do any local recording.

I'm new to Hikvision cameras, so I'm not sure if I'm missing a step, but with my other IP cameras you simply insert a memory card, format it and enable recording.

SF version on the box is v5.2.8_141231 but the system info shows:

Firmware Version V5.2.5 build 141201
Encoding Version V5.0 build 140714

Does it seem like my SD card slot is faulty? Or maybe the firmware was downgraded by the seller and somehow the SD card is disabled? Anything I might be missing?

Hi flashrdu,
I've got just the same cams and both SD cards are recognized and working. After formatting in the menu page itselve, on the storage page under configuration appears the capacity and the free space of the cards. I'm using Transcend 64Gb, XC Class 10, UHS-I, 300x My firmware and encoding versions are just the same as yours.

Thanks for letting me know your experience, Maeseken. I'm leaning towards believing the microsd card slot on the camera just isn't working. Browsing the forum I know there are newer firmware versions out there but it looks like there's a chance to brick the camera or get stuck in a Chinese language. I guess I'll have to see if the seller will exchange it.

Check the sd card in a PC first, make sure it's fat formated by the PC first, and it's a genuine quality branded sd card, not some fake $5 64gb card.

Interesting I just got 2 cameras identical to what you have and having exactly the same issue.
I bought these cards:
http://www.microcenter.com/product/431735/64GB_Class_10_EVO_microSD_Memory_Card_With_Adapter
and also tried a random 8GB and 16GB card.

MicroSD works in PC but camera doesn't see anything.

Hello Flashrdu
I have 4 of these camaras and install 4 Sandisk 64G SD cards on them and they work really good, I formatted the SD cards using the web hikvison program.
Regards.

I, too, have this setup and am using SanDisk 64 cards in my 3 cameras (64 Gb is the upper limit for the 5.2.5 firmware). They all work great. I would add that you should feel a slight click when the card is inserted correctly. The first one I did was not recognized, and it was because I hadn't pushed the card in fully until it clicked. Good luck with your issue.

I've tried 3 different cards from 3 different manufacturers, none of which have worked: Kingston, PNY and Sandisk. Kingston and Sandisk are "Hikvision tested compatible", but even then I don't think the camera knows what brand your using.

I just tried Sandisk 16GB, Microcenter 8GB, Sandisk Ultra 64GB and nothing.
This is 5 cards that I tried.

BTW, what is the information on your box? Mine is:

SF Version V5.2.8_141231
Date: 03/2015

So I take it I should RMA the cameras?

Just to clarify, I should be seeing MicroSD if I go to:

Configuration > Advanced Configuration > Storage > Storage Management and it should be listed under HDD Device List ?

Hmm the only requirement i know SD card would need is the Speed, Class 10 should be fine. I guess make sure it is inserted fully and on the correct side? Yea or else do RMA..
Yeah, I tried at least a few Class 10 cards... I do hear it click when inserting and it gets locked in there firmly.
Do you need to reboot the camera for it to show up? (I did on most of them anyways to test, could speed up the testing I am trying to do today.)
Definitely cant insert the card upside down, it doesn't fit at all.

Thanks

If you can establish a telnet or SSH session to the camera, you can see if the card is recognised using the 'mount' command, eg the 'mmc01' device below:
login as: root
root@192.168.1.64's password:

BusyBox v1.19.3 (2014-07-11 11:25:54 CST) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
# mount
rootfs on / type rootfs (rw)
/dev/root on / type ext2 (rw,relatime)
proc on /proc type proc (rw,relatime)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,relatime)
ramfs on /home type ramfs (rw,relatime)
udev on /dev type tmpfs (rw,relatime)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,relatime,mode=600)
/dev/ubi1_0 on /dav type ubifs (rw,relatime)
/dev/ubi3_0 on /davinci type ubifs (rw,relatime)
/dev/ubi4_0 on /config type ubifs (rw,relatime)
/dev/mmc01 on /mnt/mmc01 type vfat (rw,relatime,fmask=0022,dmask=0022,codepage=cp437,iocharset=iso8859-1,shortname=mixed,errors=remount-ro)
192.168.1.201:/cctv1 on /mnt/nfs00 type nfs (rw,sync,relatime,vers=3,rsize=4096,wsize=4096,namlen=255,acregmin=0,acregmax=0,acdirmin=0,acdirmax=0,soft,noac,nolock,proto=tcp,port=65535,timeo=70,retrans=3,sec=sys,local_lock=all,addr=192.168.1.201)
#
And you should be able to see the card removal and insertion like so:

# cat /proc/kmsg
<6>[2439324.333500] mmc0: card b368 removed
<6>[2439333.033598] mmc0: new high speed SD card at address b368
<6>[2439333.058993] mmcblk0: mmc0:b368 SD 59.8 MiB
<6>[2439333.088646] mmcblk0: p1
(Yes, that's just a 64MB card, not for use, just for testing ...)

OK, zero evidence in your mount list that an SD card is in place.
And your kernel log shows no evidence of the SD card hardware driver initialising, which suggests the hardware doesn't exist or is not recognised. Despite the 'MMC0,1 power register probe OK'.
And there is the dummy audio driver being loaded, which again suggests no audio hardware is present or recognised.

Compare with this fragment from a Ds-2CD2132F-IWS, same kernel version, same hardware version:

Conclusion - not sure - but it looks like the camera board hardware does not match the apparent model number. Which presumably is showing correctly in the web GUI?
What would I do? Swap out the firmware for a non-seller-installed-version such as this, just to remove that from the equation: http://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/4036-Custom-Firmware-Downgrader-5-3-0-Chinese-to-5-2-5-English
Except that the camera would likely revert to Chinese menus - but that's another story ...

As far as messing with firmware.. nah, lol, I'll mess something up.
I'd rather return this while I can. :)

CCWR in the serial number should mean this is a United States/Europe Camera and will accept stock firmware from Hikvision and give multi-language, not Chinese only user interface.

Ugh, ok.. so I flashed that firmware.
Now it doesn't recognize my username/password to login. lol
Nor the default one admin/12345 works.
Reset?
