DS-2CD2325FWD-I 2MP Ultra-Low Light Network Turret Camera

As you will note, the stock lens is less than 20mm according to triumph202's measurements.

Try searching for starlight f1.5 lenses. I'm not on my Pc so haven't got the links, but they're on AliExpress in the correct length in 4 and 6mm. That should match your stock lens' low light performance.

You won't be able to find an exact match - according to the specs you want to find as close to f1.2 as possible (i.e. Min. Illumination:| Color: 0.005 lux @(F1.2, AGC ON), 0 lux with IR).

At the end of the day, and its been said on this forum before, you should likely resale the camera and simply order the 4mm camera (especially for these new low light series cameras).

These two appear to be an identical design lens:

For sure, but when you're only talking around $10 per lens it can be worth a try (if you know what you're doing.) I've converted a 2.8mm camera to a 16mm and the results are way better than I'd hoped for. I haven't tried a lens change on the 2335, but the lens measurements I took are on here.

You've been caught out by Hikvision's dodgy way of quoting their camera specs. It does say Min. Illumination Color: 0.005 lux @(F1.2, AGC ON), 0 lux with IR but if you check the spec sheet closely it also says Iris F1.6 .

So they've actually got a f1.6 lens fitted. ;)

Just what is AGC ON?
My hikvision (DS-2CD3332-I) camera didn't have any on/off for AGC. I believe it was on for the exposure(s) that are unusable and create motion blur at night.

Automatic gain control?

Yea, but if there isn't anything to turn it on or off and nothing in the setting for AGC, then what is it? When are you going to see these lux rating being implemented?

I guess AGC is on all the time- given there doesn't appear to be any on/ off setting? I just tried searching Hikvision's website and there's no info on it at all- nothing in their Knowledge Base which has most other abbreviations covered. It is definitely "Auto Gain Control"- that's about all I could find.

I'm wondering if it works like the Hikvision "Exposure" setting - where you can specify a single value for the slowest (ie. longest) exposure time and the camera will then use anything that timing or faster? ie. So you set the sensor Gain somewhere between 0-100 and the camera's AGC will operate between those set parameters?

I wouldn't get too hung up on the specs, I've compared a 2MP IPC-HDW5231R-Z (the much talked about hero Starlight varifocal camera in Dahua's range) and a correctly focused DS-2CD2335FWD-I can hold it's own. Something to note is Dahua show the real specs with the fitted lens, so the 5231R-Z is rated as:

0.006Lux/F1.4 ( Color,1/3s,30IRE)

0.05Lux/F1.4 ( Color,1/30s,30IRE) <- I like how they give a rating at a more realistic shutter speed, as 1/3s is useless for any moving subjects.

0Lux/F1.4 (IR on)

(although they do say "Max. Aperture F1.4" which makes me think that varifocal lens is f1.4 @ 2.7mm and perhaps decreases in size as you zoom to 12mm?)

I'll align my Starlight 2MP and do a comparison tonight to my 6mm 2335 (now that I've got it focused correctly.)

Speaking of the 2MP IPC-HDW5231R I did purchase one. I tried the night time in color but was not real happy with it. So I changed it to black and white. The IR was off on the color but is on for the b&w. I thought I had shut it off. Anyways here are the two pictures for comparison. The Hikvision 6mm was supposed to arrive today but was rescheduled for tomorrow. By the way this camera guards the East side of the house and I live on a 4 way intersection.

It looks like there is an IR light source coming from somewhere near the 5231? (Going by the way the tree is lit up and the path; the shadows have vanished and it's brightly lit near the centre. I found with my 5231 the IR is very concentrated in the centre of the image, so if I zoom out the edges are poorly lit in total darkness.)

It's daytime here, but I've realigned the 5231 to closely match the 2335. I've got some daytime examples and will post night with floodlighting later - I'll put it in the 2335 thread. @Parley have you locked the exposure speed to any specific range with either camera?

PS: Camera 3 is your 2335, Camera 1 is the same 2335 renamed?

I was going to turn off the IR on the 5231 but I accidently left it on. No, I have not locked in the exposure speed on any of the cameras. I think the reason the 2335 is still in the daylight mode is the neighbor across the street has his patio lights on and my camera is picking it up thinking it is still daytime.

my cams arrived today, i have noticed there is no gain control is this correct ?

I received my 2335 6mm today and I have already mounted it. It replaced 2342 turret. I made more changes to the settings than I normally do so we shall see how that works out. One that I remember is setting the shutter speed to 1/60. Usually I leave most of it alone and just go with the factory settings.
