Early-gen i5 for Blue Iris server?

Trust me i'm fully aware of energy cost of my i5 Lynchfield CPU it uses 117 watts of power with a 60% CPU load which is also running 24/7. Now in my state the electricity cost is 0.08 (kWh) with that said it cost me 6.50 to 7.00 a month to run this pc 24/7 at 60% load. And it's about $80.00 to $82.00 a year, now my pc is using the highest power settings and is overclocked, so mine will be higher watts then normal. So going back to buying a new pc or using what you have. So even spending 300 on a new pc (which is cheap)for the Energy savings wouldn't pay off in a 3 year time frame. Also I do have tons experience in the tech field I have been working on computers at the age 8. Also im Cisco certified, A+ Certified, and Microsoft certified,I also am the technology leader in my company for the last 10 years. Again you say I no nothing because my views on the subject aren't the same as yours. And if it's not your solution to the problem it's always the wrong one. Meaning you think what you say is always right, and everyone else knows nothing. So obviously your statement above has two flase misleading solutions. :)

You once again have proven your lack of knowledge and critical thinking. First you have no idea what state the OP lives in yet you give advice with respect to power usage. In fact I can tell you he lives in a state with very high rates. He will make his money back in less than a year. Your flawed logic includes the purchase of a 300 dollar system, when a 150 dollar ivy bridge system would accomplish same.
You also dont understand the difference between the price for the electricity and distribution. Go look at your electric bill and see that you are charged more than 8c a kwh.
Finally you deliberately jabbed HP in this thread because you they pissed you off for some reason. You are deliberately misleading folks here. They make excellent machines. I am using many of them for 24/7 blue iris operation as well as many others in my business.
We both know those certifications are meaningless so PLEASE dont try to impress me. I have learned by reading your other posts that you are quite inept.

Well thanks for admitting that you have been proven wrong. Next time stick to the facts.
*eyesroll* you only wish I was wrong and Im NOT admitting to anything, (likewise)as in take your own advice ... and how do you know the cost of power where the op lives ? How do you know this wasn't a computer he built many years ago and can easily upgrade for 300 bucks with a new CPU and motherboard ? Oh let me guess don't upgrade the pc ,just buy a HP ,right ? And what I said in post # 20 is my situation. Also known as a example ! But I don't know why I'm telling you this your the smartest person alive! Trust me I'm definitely not trying to impress you !

I know his location. I dont understand your question, why would you pay 300 to upgrade a pc when you can buy a completely new pc for 300..my point is you can pick up an ivybridge for 150...I dont care what brand he buys, dell, hp, lenovo...If you would stop being an asshole and read my post, you would see other brands besides HP are recommended...it is clear that you have ZERO experience with the HP elitedesk line. Yet you mouth off about it like an ignorant moron.

This is a typical post reply from you (above) you get upset and start name calling and being rude. Yet your calling me a asshole? God forbid if someone disagrees with you. And when they do it's always the wrong advice or misleading. Then you feel the need to argue and waste several post off subject for no reason. It must be nice to have this much free time in your day.

That is precisely why I started this forum. So that I can tell it like it is to assholes like you. You come here and mislead I will call you out on it. Give me one reason why a user should not buy HP? One.
Maybe if you work hard enough you too will have the luxury of more free time. This is the land of opportunity. I believe you can do it.

I'll stick with Dell, never had any issues, and my experience with their support is awesome, just the other day I called them for a loose connection in a laptop screen and they sent someone to fix it the next day on site

Dell and Lenovo are the only computers I would buy these days and maybe acer. But with the crap Lenovo pulled with their spyware who knows if you can trust them they still make good hardware.

You are wrong. You must be referring to home systems.. business support is out of San Antonio and with native English speakers...You get through to a human in under 5 minuets... Media is shipped FedEx overnight free...if you have no experience it's better to keep quiet...

Forget about the Lenovo. When we finally go to war with China it's gonna blow up, kill your dog and burn down your house and post kiddie porn to your Facebook page.
