Here comes Milton…

Don’t think that’s today?

Cat 3, Siesta Key at around 8:35pm ET.

We've had 70 and 74 gusts, sustained in the 40's so far.

Still have power which is a flippin miracle for The Swamp!

Still have a roof, so life is good.... so far (Bob Walsh)

Hope you're do good! Any risk of flooding where you are?

Just took the dry dog for his nightly poop run. Made sure I was up wind to avoid flying turds. When it's blowing 25 to 35 mph and you are soaking wet it cold. Dog really enjoyed himself though. The bad winds will probably arrive at 1am.

Well luck ran out about 11pm. Wind kicked up BIG 75-80 gusts and after a couple of BANGs, POPs, snd THUDs , power went to sleep.

Had generator and cables pre positioned so was up and running in about 15 minutes. (No whole house here at the swamp, using my trusty Generac 8500 from the 2017 hurricane. 125 hours on it. Running like a top.)

Went next door and fired up neighbors generator, I think a dura max 8000. He keeps exotic fish.

So all good for now. Have to wait for first light to do battle damage assessment.

Still have a roof!

This is the follow up to the house that had custom ratchet straps made to secure his roof:

As I noted earlier this isn’t something done at the time vs doing so well in advance using piles very deep in the ground.

In this case it’s eight feet piles with anchors . . .

Good for him using past experience to guide him on a McGyver solution. They will report back how this worked in the aftermath.

Stay tuned . . .

1 hr sleep. Still have a roof. Long night.

We were/ are on the north side of what is left of the eyewall. It just never stopped howling from about 10pm till now. The absolute worst spot to be for this one, other than the direct coast or if you were unlucky enough to get hit by a tornado.
The back/west side of the storm was unusually just as bad as the front side. 75-85 gusts the whole fucking time.

Typically the bad part lasts 3-4 hours, Double that and it will wear on ya.

But as they say.. could been worse.

Let’s not do that again real soon mmmkay?

I hope you all are OK and had very little to no damage! Good morning!

Glad you're able to post on IPCT, hope damage is minimal. :headbang:

So glad to hear you are ok. I guess you will be without power awhile, I hope you have enough fuel for your generator, but it sounds like you were prepared for this

As others said very happy to see you’re fine along with the roof! :headbang: We are seeing lots of high winds breaking continuous 85 MPH.

Wind gusts of 90-95 MPH . . .

Had to go up with all my safety gear and patch a row of missing shingles!

Watching the news of the endless tornados just dropping out of the sky in Florida was like watching a over the top direct to VHS movie!

The news just said there may be a third hurricane spooling up now - WTF?!?
