Hikivision firmware 5.3.0

I have a Hikvision DS-2CD2132F-IWS that I purchased from Amazon. I didn't know about the Hikvision marketing tactics, so I upgraded my firmware to 5.3.0. The sticker says that the camera was built 11/2014 and had v5.2.3. It was probably downgraded by the seller to a hacked English version of 5.0, but I am not sure.

I tried downgrading to an English hacked version of 5.2.0 (Raptor_2_520_f_10_14_c) using Hikvision Tools -> Batch Configuration, but it failed. I also tried the Auto TFTP solution, but that didn't work... the server initialized and the camera recognized the server (Device [192.0.0.64] test tftpserver), but then it would't proceed any further. I also tried downgrading to an English non-hacked v. 5.2.0, but that failed as well. (I didn't think to try downgrading to Chinese v 5.2.0.)

I finally downloaded the Chinese version of 5.3.0 (http://www1.hikvision.com/cn/download_more_714.html) and used Hikvision Tools -> Batch Configuration and it succeeded. Unfortunately, the web interface for the camera is now Chinese. Has anyone figured out how to change from Chinese to English yet?

Interesting, Hikvision 5.3.0 chinese is a lot small than EN/ML
Also firmware is now split into different model within the range. Time to compare

I've just purchased a DS-2CD3410FD-IW and it comes with Chinese version of 5.3.0 Building 150327. Is there anything I can do to help with the Chinese to English process? Give me the instructions and I'll get it.

EDIT: I found the firmware (I think it's english version of 5.3 here: http://overseas.hikvision.com/en/download_89.html ) I'm not sure which one apply to my camera.
Based on the product number probably Baseline Firmware_IPC_En_V5.3.0 150513 (2XX0)
Could anyone with knowledge about this model let me know?

I am using a different Hikvision camera. However, I think that if you try to flash the English version on to a recently manufactured (2015) Chinese market camera, you won't even be able to see the Chinese instructions. It will just say "language mismatch" and you won't be able to change the settings. I have been using a Chrome browser with Google Translate to translate the Chinese web interface into English. It is a bit slow, but at least I can open the web configuration. It isn't a pretty workaround, but it is the best I know of so far.

I'm doing exactly the same thing with Google Auto translate. If someone need to know anything about these new version, please let me know. I managed to SSH into the camera (need to be enable in the settings) but I don't see telnet option.
Some small things I noticed:
- The camera come with DHCP enable by default. There is no default IP.
- The camera doesn't come with a default password, it will ask you to set a password when you connect to the web interface the first time. (That means if you try to connect directly into the camera, it will not work)

You could try the IEfile.tar hack to get it to part English or try the English firmware with the flag changed to chinese, what would be nice is to add telnet to start on boot as telnet is still in the digicap.dav or you could try to replace busybox in the digicap.dav with a fuller version.

Could you please elaborate on that?
I'm new with doing the hack on cameras. I'm not sure how to go about doing all that.

Hi whoslooking Have you ever try it? alastairstevenson customized a 5.3.0 firmware with full version busybox, and i uploaded on a 5.3.0 chinese camera, it will not boot up, seem some checksum in the firmware and not that simple?

Not on a generic 5.3.0, but I have on a 5.3.0 hacked (original 5.2.0) it took a long time to boot but it did boot, I'm still waiting on 5.3.0 to be delivered to fully test.

Next thing will be to replace all mtd files with the ones from a 5.1.6 after checking the PCB for differences.

Hi Whoslooking, good job. I can test the modified firmware for you and share the result to you and forum members liked I did for alastairstevenson. The camera is in chinese 5.3.0 now, so it is not useful for me. Thus any test are welcomed even at risk of brick.Best regards

Hi Whoslooking, I also have 2 x 5.30 cameras to be able to test on. One with hacked MTD files where the camera will not accept either the Chinese or English 5.3.0 original digicap.dav files, and the other running Chinese 5.3.0 which was delivered with 5.2.5 Hacked English firmware.
Cheers

I did also copy out the davinci.tar.gz file and the check_rs232 files running on the 5.3.0 labelled camera running hacked 5.2.5 if these are useful to you. (before I broke them)

Hi,

I'm a new user on here and as a newbie I stupidly upgraded the firmware to 5.3.0 not knowing I had the Chinese models.

I have managed to get hold of the Chinese firmware but now ive lost he English language.

I have two 'DS-2CD273F-IS' both stuck in this mode so any help I can give by doing tests let me know.

Cheers

Lee

I did the same. After upgrade to 5.3.0 i got message
[h=2]Access Error: 404 -- Not Found[/h] firmware language mismatch: /home/webLib

Now i can't access from webbrowser. camera is working but i cannot access. Any solutions?

You need to download the Chinese version of the firmware then use the 'Hikvision Tools / Batch Upgrade' tool.

That will get you a fully working cam however you will be stuck in Chinese language now.
