Hi all.

please can you help me i have the
DS-7608N-E2/8P NVR. Everything was working fine until i decided to upgrade the firmware ( due to the Gmail ssl issues) Unfortunately i have an issue i now have another issue, after selecting the file and clicking up upgrade (via web page), the device has failed to restart,. im unable to factory reset as i can not access the GUI. The NVR now 15 beeps on the NVR then it tries to reboot and goes in a cycle The NVR was purchased via ebay (China), think i pretty much installed the incorrect firmware

Any help would be appreciated

Step 2 - Acknowledge the mistake you made and hopefully understand why not to do that again and the difference between DS-7608NI and DS-7608N (you put NI on your N by the way).

Don't worry about deleting the other post, is just my pet hate the forum getting spammed

You need to TFTP it on to your NVR. Use the search function and do some reading about it. Then come back here.

It's important to understand rather than blindly do it.

The NVR now 15 beeps on the NVR then it tries to reboot and goes in a cycle
If you had a connection to the serial console, you would see a lot of messages something like this (sic) with the beeps :
" !!! You device is illegal, you bought in China. Please call the factory !!!!"
" !!! You device is illegal, you bought in China. Please call the factory !!!!"
" !!! You device is illegal, you bought in China. Please call the factory !!!!"

This is caused by loading EN (English) or ML (Multilanguage) firmware on a Chinese market NVR.
@Del Boy is correct in that the firmware linked to should work OK on your 7608 NVR - but you will likely end up with Chinese menus.
Please post a link to the firmware you downloaded and installed.
If it was from a Hikvision US site, it may be possible for you to recover the NVR with firmware from the Hikvision Europe site.

It is possible that the NVR isn't a 7608 but may be a 7808. What does the device label show?

I was trying to get the NVR back to a working state in Chinese and then work from there to get an English version on. I thought that would be easier steps to do.

Yes, I agree, a sensible first step, at least to get some menus up.
My thought was that the NVR may not really be a 7608, as that repeated beeping (assuming it's the 'you bought in China' one) originates from a comparison between the NVR region and the firmware region.

It's not that difficult (providing you take the time to read carefully and get everything right) but it's the only way to fix your NVR now.

OK, so the NVR has been unbricked. That's good.
When you log in via the web GUI, what model does the system information show?
The 3.0.5 and 3.0.8 firmware should have a 'telnet enable' option in the menus - I forget exactly where, under network I think.
If you enable telnet, and log in with PuTTY or similar as 'root' with your admin password, what does
cat /proc/hkvs/bootpara
show?
