Hikvision camera DS-2CD2385FWD-I is dead - what to do

One of my four Hikvision (DS-2CD2385FWD-I) cameras seem to be dead as I am not getting any pictures from the camera and cannot connect to it any longer. It was working well previously.

Please, does anyone know what could have happened? Is it power-related? Please, what should I do? Thanks
 
Have you power-cycled the camera?

Can you ping the camera IP address?

Does the link detect light show on the switch / NVR port that the camera is plugged in to?
 
No light on the switch / NVR port that the camera is plugged in to. I am not sure how to ping it, but it's showing offline from the monitor. Thanks for the response.
 
If there is no light on the port the camera is connected to, that's an indication it's not going to be accessible on the network.

Is it possible there had been moisture ingression at the cable joint at the camera end?
That's a killer if it happens with PoE cameras.
 
Swap this camera to a working port on the NVR. Does it work now? If not take down the camera and power it up with a DC supply. Then connect it directly to your computer or router. Can you see the camera using SADP. If so it means you have a bad cable, likely a connector.
 
I have swapped the camera to a working port but still no light. I will need to bring it down to do the other test you suggested. What's SADP? Please do you know what DC plug I should buy that will fit in? Thanks
 
How about first connecting camera to the NVR with a patch cable.
 
By the way SADP is a Hikvision software that allows you to see cameras and change IP addresses. The camera cannot be connected behind the NVR. You can find it here

Last week I bought a Swann 'spares and repairs' PoE NVR very cheap off eBay. Apparently all cameras had gone offline.
I checked it out and found a short circuit surge protector across the 48v PoE supply.
It's back working - but disappointingly it is a proprietary architecture, doesn't allow 3rd party cameras.
And the NVR-specific cameras are hard to get.
So it's going back on eBay after Christmas.

I brought down the camera and conbected to the NVR with internet cable but the display screen still says "No Link".

Then I installed SADPTool and connected the camera directly to my laptop through a patch cable but it didn't show on the SADPTool, even after powering it up with power plug.

Finally, I connected the camera direvdir to the router with the power cable connected and this time, the Sadptool recognised it.

So does it mean the camera wasn't getting sufficient power? How do I make it work? Thanks
 
I can't locate the camera again in Sadptool tool. Not sure how to proceed again. Any help would be sppapprecia. Thanks

Well, that presumably lets out the original ethernet cable as the source of the problem.

So it's not totally dead after all.

This was still while connected to the router, with the 12v power supply?

Suggestions:
Presumably in SADP it showed an NVR PoE port IP address, something like 192.168.254.x
If it's coming and going in SADP - what does the link detect light on the router show? Steady on, with the traffic LED flashing?
If you can get it showing again in SADP - does the IP address match that of the channel in the NVR that it was connected to?
What firmware version shows for it in SADP?
If it's stable in SADP (use the Refresh button a few times) you should be able to change the 192.168.254.x IP address to one in the range that your LAN uses, knowing the password.
If you can do that - double-click the IP address shown in SADP and see what the browser access looks like.
 
The camera now appears on the Sadptool after a switch off and on of the power. But I am unable to connect via browser/IP address.
 
Tried multiple times to change the camera IP address to match the NVR, but I getting "time out" message.
