Hikvision DS-7608NI-SEP compatability with 4MP camera problem...

If your nvr is the NI model you will be able to tftp the 3.15 euro fw onto it, it took me 3 goes until it took. web upgrade failed every time 2 bleeps after the splash screen.
ttl works everytime though.

I'm also working on the tftp process, but since I have the apple timecapsule as a router, it defaults to 10.0.1.1, and changes my PC to 10.0.1.5, if I change it to the IP address that the nvr looks for, my connection my pc is no longer connected to the router. It was late last night so I didn't figure it out, but I decided I will try and change my ip address on the apple router to 192.0.0.1, if that works I should be able to change my pc to 192.0.0.128, without loosing my connection, hopefully at that point I will be able to use tftp successfully. I'm hedging my bets by researching the serial connection to upgrade the firmware.

Don't mess with the router - you don't need to.
The fact that when you change the PC IP address to a different IP segment than the one your router and the rest of the LAN) is on, and you can (temporarily) no longer access the internet does not mean you've lost your connection to the router. Assuming the router ports are switch ports, the traffic will still flow OK.

Thanks for the help all, it kept me moving forward until I got the tftp working, apparently my apple rounter (Time machine) doesn't play nice with tftp. A friend loaned me a cisco router, and that cleared up the problem.

I first moved the latest firmware that I had working 2.3.11_150625, the nvr booted without a problem, it recognize my camera's, although it would stream them, due to the high resolution of the 4mp cameras, which is why I was updating the nvr to 3.0.15_150528. So I proceeded to upgrade to 3.0.15_150528, and although it sent the firmware, tftp indicated that it couldn't be load (see log below). I took a 15 minute breather and when I came back the NVR was running the new firmware... of course it still can't steam the new 4 mp camera's sigh... but I haven't had much time to mess with it. I'm calling it a night, and will start back on it tomorrow afternoon.

So, I now have upgraded to Version 3.0.15_150528, and although the NVR recognizes the the new DS-2CD2142-FWD-IS cameras, as with the earlier version 2.3.11_150625, it still doesn't recognize video stream over the 1920x1080. For the time being, I'm going to leave my 4MP at 1920x1080, and watch the forums to see if a new firmware release supports the new 4MP resolutions, or perhaps someone here comes up with a solution.

Next spring if there isn't a solution, I will probably upgraded to new Hikvision NVR, or perhaps build a system and use Blue Iris, I was able to get BI to work with the higher resolutions, it's just I didn't have time to iron out all the kinks.

If I'm not mistaken you will need to upgrade to at least 3.3.2 to get your nvr to work with the 4mp

I think although I stand to be corrected you are still way too low on the firmware on the nvr for the 4mp

I tried upgrading to firmware 3.3.4 3 times, twice by using tftp it seemed to work, but each time my nvr restarted it was still running 3.0.15. I tried again using the update program on the NVR, via the flash drive, and it indicated it was incompatible. I suspect that the versions above 3.0.15 were specifically for the NI-E2 NVR's, and that the SEP version that I have was unable to upgrade.

I will try and find the 3.3.2 version, and attempt upgrading to it.

That info ages your loading the wrong firmware

I don't know a lot about the SEP version but look here at the firmware

The latest version of firmware for your NVR is 3.15 unfortunately like many Hikvision products it's a kick in the nuts and robs your features
That slightly old of fw had. I can't confirm either that it will support the 4mp camera's as I only have 3mp and Huisun Camera's

It's as I expected, thanks whoslooking, at least I was able to upgrade to 3.15, and unbrick my NVR, such as it is, I will let it limp along using only half of the resolution of the camera's. I suspect I will eventually upgrade to BI, and although a new Hikvision NVR might be less expensive, BI at least keeps up with the technology. I will end this post with one complaint about Hikvision, and that is, finding information about Hikvision products is very difficult, I have spend countless hours researching, and if not for this forum I wouldn't have any security system running at this time. I really considered upgrading to the DS 7616NI-E2 for $360, but I do not have enough information on it to determine if it would that much of an upgrade, or how it would compare to an i7 PC running BI.

Anyway, I'm going to stay around and research, and help when I can.
