I have now disconnected the dvr and connected it directly to the router via ethernet
That's good.
Best also to connect the PC to the router as well, instead of WiFi.
But if you don't have a cable - try the WiFi, it may work OK.

I think you're going to get to the DVR web GUI, log in and confirm it's status.
I'm signing off for the night.
Bye for now.

Thanks for replying! I was beginning to lose all hope! I have pinged the address in the CMD and it pings back, when I disconnect the ethernet the ping fails, so it's definitely the correct ip address on the Dvr, I have enabled all active x controls in the Internet explorer, I have disabled firewall. But I still cannot connect!

there are 2 ports showing in Sadp one is port 8000 and the other is HTTP Port 80, not figured out what to do with these yet, do i change these values?

Those ports are correct, they do not need to be changed.
If the DVR is now performing correctly, after the firmware update, it should be possible to access it using the browser at this address :
http://192.168.0.200
It is possible that, despite it appearing normal in SADP, and the ping to it's address being successful, that it is still not running correctly.

You will get no response at this address as you have used https: instead of http:

Thanks for the information, iv tried it but it's saying remote device or resource won't accept the connection, is it time to accept defeat?? My neighbour got burgled 2 hours ago and my cameras cover my property's and hers, but unfortunately my cctv is off so nothing got captured. It's just over a year old my machine, I just don't understand my switching it off from the mains how it turned into a boot loop issue
