There is no possibility to use this method for camera DS-2CD2XX0, connect rs-232 console will fail to make changes.
if your camera revision "B" then forget about downgrade the firmware.

Hi guys,
I have Hikvision DVR DS-7208HGHI-SH/A and Panasonic IP camera that I would like to connect to. Unfortunately default FW on my DVR doesn't support ONVIF protocol but only Hikvision one.
On the other hand DS 73xx and other higher series models support ONVIF and have custom protocol settings option in the menu to setup IP cameras other than Hikvision ones.
As the FW file is common for my and those other DVRs, is there a possibility to customize the FW using HIKTOOLS and setup some flag or so to enable ONVIF support on my DVR?
Thanks in advance

Who can help ? I want to remove the Protected Shell in hikvision 5.3.0, now available to all commands via SSH. I open a file archiver hroot.img 7zip. Then I open the file "initrd" program "ImgExtractor.exe". In the folder "bin" delete file "psh". Then I pack again in the file "initrd" program "mkcramfs.exe". Then using 7zip packs in "hroot.img". Next, using "hiktools05R1.exe" doing a modified firmware "digicap.dav". This firmware is not installed via the web interface of the camera . What am I doing wrong? Sorry for my english.

Well, if the DVR works in any way similarly to a 7816N-E2/8P NVR, and if it's using firmware that can be decomposed and re-assembled using the Hiktools utility, and you can unpack and re-pack a Linux cramfs image this may provide a clue. A challenge for someone!
There is a small executable 'showlogo', and it looks like it uses an image file, one of those various transient items that are tidied up on bootup to maximise the available RAM space:

dvrdvs login: root
Password:

BusyBox v1.16.1 (2014-05-19 09:41:10 CST) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
can not change to guest!
[root@dvrdvs /] # cd /home/hik
[root@dvrdvs hik] # ll
