You can't easily change the language flag unless the fw version is <= 5.3.0 or you have the private key used to sign the firmware. An exception is de-soldering the flash as mentioned previously and accessing it directly using an adapter.

Oh and even if you do all that, the actual language flag is actually stored on a separate smart chip the kernel uses. And if you mess with it it will disable itself beyond even TFTP or UART recovery etc (same chip as in a credit card).

If you already have a camera from aliexpress that is hacked firmware I would just leave it alone.

If you got a camera from somewhere else and expected it to be multi language complain to whoever you got it from.

If you knowingly bought a camera that was Chinese or TFTP'd original Chinese firmware to it then I would just use Chrome for English menus - much easier These cameras are so cheap anyway they are not worth messing with.

It's all possible to change to english with past 5.4 cameras and also software will regognize as EU/US Camera.
The chinese do it all the time but the method or the firmware is not published because they want to keep it secret.

Yes those cameras are so cheap it is not worth messing arround. But in my opinion Hikvision sells the best cameras and rock solid cameras on the market and they are better then most 500 $ cameras.

It's hard to help without a bit more detail.
Serial number of the NVR - to indicate the region it was set to.
Version of firmware that was in it.
Version and download source of firmware that you applied to it.
Method of applying the firmware.
