Hi everyone,

I’ve installed 2 Hikvision camera (model DS-2CD2185FWD-I2.8).

In day view, everything is working well ! But when the view switch I night view, it seems that I have a IR reflection problem... I looked at the foam around the lens, but it seems to be okay (both cameras are new). Has anyone ever had this kind of problem?

I have never installed outdoor camera, so the IR reflecting problem is quite new for me.

I have watched on google and YouTube some information, but apart from cleaning the dome I did not see anything conclusive!

Can someone help me ? At this moment, the camera is totally useless during the night :( :(

Thanks, and have a great day,

pijoy

Keep the domes clean inside and out. there is not a lot to be done about this problem, other than buy turret cameras.
What make and model cameras ?

My standard welcome to the forum message.

Please read the cliff notes and other items in the wiki. The wiki is in the blue bar at the top of the page.

Read How to Secure Your Network (Don't Get Hacked!) in the wiki also.

Quick start
1) Use Dahua starlight cameras or Hikvision darkfighter cameras or ICPT Night eye cameras (https://store.ipcamtalk.com/) if you need good low light cameras.
2) use a VPN to access home network (openVPN)
3) Do not use wifi cameras.
4) Do not use cloud storage
5) Do Not use uPNP, P2P, QR, do not open ports,
6) More megapixel is not necessarily better.
7) Avoid chinese hacked cameras (most ebay, amazon, aliexpress cameras(not all, but most))
8) Do not use reolink, ring, nest cameras (they are junk)
9) If possible use a turret camera , bullet collect spiders, dome collect dirt and reflect light (IR)
10) Use only solid copper, AWG 23 or 24 ethernet wire. , no CCA (Copper Clad Aluminum)

Read, study, plan before spending money ..... plan plan plan

do you have reflections when the IR is OFF? if so, the reflections are most likely from a nearby light source off to the side somewhere. If you only have reflections when the IR is ON, it could be internal (within the dome - make sure the foam ring is pressing up against the inside of the dome) or external (nearby surface reflecting IR back into the dome). maybe post a shot of the night-time image and/or the cam's installation?...

post an image of the installed camera and the ir reflection...its likely reflecting off something nearby.

I recently installed two dome cameras, one of them needs the IR light at night to grab anything usable, and I found the same problem you did with horrible IR reflection in the image. The camera is new, but probably the glass for dirty during installation. I'll try to clean it and try again tonight.

Its not dirty, its improper installation as noted in many threads on this forum. This is why its advised to avoid domes.
