Hikvision KD8003 not visible in SADP when connected to NVR

Hello,
I have the strange problem that I am not able to connect my Hikvision KD8003 to my Annke N98PBH NVR.
  • When connected directly to the NVR, the KD8003 is neither visible in SADP nor in the NVR itself.
  • Other cameras connected to the NVR are visible in SADP though
  • When connected to a PoE switch, discovery in SADP works without any problem.
  • I tried configuring the KD8003 manually before connecting it to the NVR, but without success. DHCP doesn’t work either.
  • It worked with this NVR in the past, but after rearranging my setup I have not been able to reinstall it. I have reset everything, but still no luck.
Do you have any ideas what I could to to fix the issue?

The NVR PoE ports use a different network segment from than of the NVR LAN port, and by default they are not accessible from LAN devices.
That is by design.

An option might be to have the KD8003 connected to the LAN and to configure one of the NVR PoE ports to manual instead of Plug&Play and configure it with the KD8003 IP address and admin password.

That should connect ok.

Thanks! I should have mentioned that connect my laptop to one of the NVR POE ports and am able to see the other cameras in SADP. Just not the KD8003.
I want to connect the KD8003 to my NVR directly.

OK, suggestion to try :
Pick the NVR PoE port you want to connect the camera to.
In the NVR web GUI, note down the IP address associated with that port.
It's probably something like 192.168.254.x
With the camera powered up and connected to the LAN, and using the known admin password, use SADP to find the camera and change its IP address to match that you noted down from the NVR PoE port.
On the NVR web GUI, change the selected PoE port from Plug&Play to Manual, ensure the Hikvision protocol is selected, set the admin password to that of the camera.
Connect the camera to the NVR PoE port and see if it connects, refreshing the browser page every few seconds to check the online/connecting status.
Hopefully it will connect.

Thanks but I tried that and it didnt work. States abnormal network.
The other cameras have gateway 0.0.0.0, I cant set that for the KD8003 (not allowed)

it's a pain in the a**, especially AS IT worked in the past..

It's like the KD8003 doesnt accept the NVR (it is powered Up, I checked that)

A Plug&Play connected camera on the NVR PoE ports would usually have the gateway set the same as that set for the NVR LAN interface.
Strictly, 0.0.0.0 is an invalid value.
Suggestion - set the KD8003 gateway to be that of the NVR PoE interface base address, usually 192.168.254.1
Then try the manual configuration / connect again, this may remove the 'abnormal network' error.

Unfortunately that wasn't the solution either

BUT I found the answer for the problem: I changed the LAN cable and now it worked. The KD8003 is visible in SADP etc.
Hard to believe that a cable would work on my Hikvision switch but not on my Annke NVR and cause such problems.
I spent probably up to 8 hours trying to solve this problem.

Thank you for all your help!
