Hikvison Permanent Region Code Hack

Thanks very much! 5.2.5 Multlanguage - default english, days everything - Works 100%

And does anyone have 5.2.8 or 5.2.5 multilanguage? i have a cam with it - how can I make a firmware of it?

You can edit the firmware's language flag
http://www.ipcamtalk.com/hikvision/...nguage-extract-files-create-own-firmware.html

However, it did not work for me, because I've tried it on an only english firmware, you have to make sure you have a multilanguage fiwmare - that's why I want to backup/save 5.2.5 multilanguage firmware from a camera.

If anyone knows how to make it please let me know. Thanks

I did it, just copy back the Multilanguage IEfile.tar.gz to /dav/, it work fine now

Its ONLY for older cam with 5.2.3. If I have 5.2.8 originally from factory, this "how to" is useless.

I used this "how to" on a camera that originally came with v5.1.6 and now is at v5.2.5 in all English including day of week, as I want it.

I just received another camera that originally came with v5.2.8 that is running a hacked v5.2.0 in all English/multi-language (day of week in English). From what I understand is if I update the camera to v5.2.5 it will cause it to have only Chinese characters and if I apply this "how to" it will brick the camera.

Am I correct? Are there any options to turn this into a English camera that can load any version of firmware? Or any other options?

Thanks.

Yes, if you apply this hack to that camera that had 5.2.8 on it from the factory, then it will not turn out well. I would never touch the firmware on that camera, it is what it is. Don't know what the attraction is to 5.2.5 or 5.2.8, it's not as good as 5.2.0 but people are attracted to it like a moth to a flame.

Bigger is better...

Is it?

I have not read yet any post identifying any performance or functionality improvement of any firmware version since version 5.1.6. I have read only performance problems and eliminated functionality. Am I correct or not?

You are correct ..my post was in jest..:D

I've done the hack on 5.2.5 - it's working 100% but first you have to solve the downgrading to older version otherwise you'll brick the cam

Try to TFTP downgrade your camera to 5.2.0 - some models don't accept, but some do. If not good, just TFTP upgrade back to 5.2.5

@AKalm why not share the solution?
