Today i installed

Piper+Whisper+ChatGPT 3.5 turbo

Its crazy how it works. it even knows the entities without any configuration, smart.

read a bit about local ai model, but skipped the plan for now.
looks like these LMA text models need lot of ram to run. my HA tinybox only have 4GB. need to find a machine with 4 slots first, then put 4x16gb or more in it (what i can get for cheap) to test.
so for now chatgpt api should be fine. fired some commands, wasted 1 cent already :D

have you tried local lma ?

Yeah, I like the idea of local AI. Have to admit, Google/Alexa did a good job in answering questions and bring info to us. Just hate their data banking and invasion of privacy. I know it is hard to get away from all of this without unplugging but I am still trying...

@duplo
So what mic/speaker are you using? I have noticed my Box-3 has to be rebooted alot, I may just need new firmware...

Looks like the GPT AI is too dumb.

i have several bathrooms on different floors, it knows that i have a bathroom in second floor, but i only have a bathtube in the other.
so it tries to turn on entities for things that does not exist and also the entities does not exist.

 disappointing

also if i ask "has the bathtube a seperate light" it turns the light on :D , but i didnt ask for it

Ordered something new to try:

A dollar short and a day late, it is on backorder, just hope not 6 months like the ESP32-S3-BOX was...

This one sounds very promising, thank you fort sharing...I like how they separated the hardware for future expansion instead of having to buy a whole new board.

Been reading others who are using this board already...you can house the Onju in a Google Min Gen 2...

I tried using HA Voice Assistant very early in the project lifetime. Encountered far too many issues while they were going through their inevitable growing pains stage. Had been a Rhasspy user for several years before it, and it was reasonably mature. I will continue to watch this thread to get your opinions on the state/status through 2025.

I am very, very impressed with the speaker background noise cancelation on this. Well not actual noise cancelation but being able to detect music that was invoked through HA and temporarily lowering it so you can address the voice assist. Very smart...

Yeah, I am very excited with the growth of local voice assistants. I have a box of Google Mini's that I don't plan to use anymore. Tired of Big Tech. listening to us and gathering all MY Data...

Been playing with the Echo Atom and the ESP32-S3-BOX's and No they are not a replacement for Alexa/Google but I use them only to turn On/Off lights. The new Sattelite1 looks very promising and I love the local AI implementation.

2025 may be the Actual Year of Voice...
