What's the current firmware version, and what language choices exist in the language drop-down at the login prompt?

just an update this issue was resolved, someone kindly sent me the correct firmware and all fine now.

PLEASE HELP!

I've followed the instructions on a DS-7608N-E2/8P.

I'm now on firmware V3.1.0 build 150511.

The web interface is 100%, AFAICT.

I haven't tested everything, I haven't tested the cameras properly, for example.

There are two serious disappointments of having taken this step so far.

1) The telnet interface is very limited, I don't get a proper shell (no ls!) only a set of specific commands which sometimes don't work. I can live with this but it's a shame.

2) More seriously, the console is in chinese. I have seen comments about this problem elsewhere in the thread, but I don't think I understand the proposed solution. It seems that it's more complicated to enable english in multi language firmware than it is to do the upgrade, is that right?

Can someone please help me, if not to fix it, at least to understand where to get some firmware from that's in Englsih? The first link in the post is what got me a chinese NVR, and the second link doesn't let me in without a login.

Update: Flashed to this:

Now refuses all login attempts, so although it's technically working, for all practical purposes, it's bricked.

How can we reset/recover these devices?

Using Hiktools you take an us/ml firmware, change the region flag from 1 to 2 then tftp the digicap.dav onto your nvr

I have NVR DS-7608N-E2 with multilanguage firmware 3.4.80
I buy it from China and seller tell me that i can not update firmware. Is any chance to i can change firmware to newer... ? I can use this metode in this first post ?
