How to get Hikvision camera connected to POE ports of Hikvision NVR to access WAN (WWW) ?

The default gateway is incorrect. Needs to be the IP address of the NVR POE interface, usually 192.168.254.1
Where can I find the IP of the NVR POE interface? The IP of the NVR is 192.168.1.254

Most routers have the default IP address of 192.168.1.1
If your nvr is 192.168.1.20 it needs to route to 192.168.1.1 to communicate to the outside web
your cameras if you plug and play will sit on 192.168.254.1 and up to 2.3.4.5 depending on how many channels you have that’s where virtual host works
I always set my cameras up with there own static ip of 192.168.1.x in the range of my router and add them manually save me opening up virtual host ech time

This is your camera management page or virtual host page

Nvr
Camera still has the same set up
If your in the camera web GUI the camera IPv4 next to the test button that’s
Where you enter the cameras IP address
The default gateway has to be your router 192.168.1.1 this is how it routers all the different ip addresses

Logged into your NVR direct (not through IE) you can get the IP address of the NVR's PoE switch.

Example:

My NVR LAN PORT 192.168.1.15 GW 192.168.1.1
NVR PoE Switch GW 192.168.254.1
Camera address 192.168.254.2 GW 192.168.254.1

For NVR PoE connected camerad to be able to communicate outside the NVR, for email or time etc their default gateway must be set to the IP address of the NVR PoE interface, usually 192.168.254.1
If you set it to your router, the cameras cannot access email or time etc

Ok let me try this. Do I need to do the static route setting on my router to test this?

Thanks for your help guys!! I got the email to work and will now work on getting the FTP working!!

After all that I'm curious what you actually changed to get it working - do tell.

And by the way - presumably you've realised that the NVR PoE channel needs to be in Manual mod, not Plug&Play, so the NVR doesn't change the camera default gateway back to the non-working value.

when I run the test I get an error along the lines of "no address found"...
I'm back and can see your screenshots properly now.

Just for your (and others) information - the 'Test' button next to the IP address setting in the camera web GUI simply checks to see if the value you are trying to put in has already been used by another device, so you can avoid setting up a duplicate address.
So when it says 'The address is not used' that's good.
It means it's not been used somewhere else , and it's OK to set the camera to it.
Hopefully that makes sense.

No problems! :)
