hi! I do not understand what you say here.
You mean the 5.1.6 chinese fw is needed before?
Thanks!
The file that JeremyFr is talking about is a file that was taken from a camera running the 5.1.6 firmware, and then modified to change the behavior so that the camera thinks it is no longer a China variant. If you take that modified file and use it to replace the file by the same name on a China variant camera that is running 5.1.6, and then reboot the camera, it will then behave as if it were a US camera.

Thank you digger11!
Is there a hack to transform the camera to a EU camera instead of US?
Are there any differences?
Thank you.

As far as I know there are only 2 variants. I probably should have said China and non-China instead of China and US.

FYI for those that haven't seen it, there is also a (paid) solution to change Chinese camera factory version to English permanently so no hacks are needed even after firmware upgrade.

http://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php?473-Hikvision-region-code-changer

PM me if interested.

Currently (up to 5.16) , you can also manually copy over hacked files instead which is free. They use my language patch I freely posted 6 months ago.

As someone said, the US and EU versions are the same at this time.

I have the hacked 5.1.6 firmware on a Chinese camera that came that way.
I assume that I could use it on my 5.1.2 Chinese cameras after I upgrade them to 5.1.6?
The 5.1.6 firmware has to be the Chinese version?

If the 5.1.2 camera is in Chinese, then use the China firmware, if it's in English, use the English firmware.

If the 5.1.2 camera is in Chinese, then use the China firmware, if it's in English, use the English firmware.
The 5.1.2 camera was purchased from China but has the English language hack on it...
It's in English but the davinci string has been HEX edited...
Thank you for clarifying, I may be a little punch drunk from lack of sleep.

I upgraded my Chinese 5.1.0 to Chinese 5.1.6 and had to use the Chinese to English patch.
Thank you.
Chinese firmware for Chinese camera and then patch, correct?

A couple of notes for those looking to patch...
The davinci.tar.gzip can be downloaded/uploaded using FTP.
Enable telnet in camera, Advanced Configuration/System/Service tab
Telnet into IP of camera. I used cmd promt in XP, typed "telnet "IP of camera" and enter.
Prompt asks for credentials I used: Hikvision login: admin, Password 12345 .
Cmd Promt returns:
"BusyBox v1.19.3 (2013-11-01 10:10:26 CST) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

#"
Type "setFtpService start" & hit enter..
The cmd prompt will return "Enable ftp service.", your camera is now running it's FTP service .
Go to your FTP client and enter the camera's information.
The FTP user name is "root" and the password is "12345"
Login, browse file structure to the dav folder where the davinci.tar.gz file is located and download it to your local.
Unzip it with 7-Zip and open the davinci.tar with your hex editor to find and alter the strings of interest.
