Need NVR + 7x IP cams + 1x doorbell cam. What would you do?

Yes of course, however a 4K 1/8 sensor is better at resolving details further away than a 4MP 1/8 sensor unless I'm mistaken.
Just remember each camera you setup needs to have a specific purpose. For example, a camera that is watching the driveway more than likely won’t be able to watch the street also. You mention details at a distance, make sure you get the proper camera to see the distance you are talking about.

It's a very simple set up. She doesn't have a large front yard. Maybe 26ft across including a single car driveway. I don't even necessarily want to get the street, just the sidewalk in front of her property. For all intents and purposes, the driveway is the front yard. Two cameras in this spot would be overkill. I don't want to be able to resolve facial features at the entrance to the driveway, I just want to maximise the detail I'm getting at the given focal length (2.8 mm).

Yeah I saw that one, but I need it to be 4K (need to preserve detail while maintaining FOV). There isn't one in any other competing brand which maintains compatibility with Dahua NVRs? (especially the AI features)?

TIOC-PRO line, with bigger 1/1.8" sensor and dual hybrid light (IR + white, white can be activated by motion) exists in 4 / 6 / 8 Mpx versions...
6 Mpx have worse night performance that 4 Mpx, 8 worse that 4 and 6...
more pixels on the same size sensor = smaller pixels = less light sensitivity.. rules of optics...

Andy have only 4Mpx version in his store, but all models of this TIOC-PRO line should be available via local Dahua resellers / distribution.

ps. from what I see, they are not available on Dahua Oceania webpage...

Thanks. Where is the 4MP one on his store? Can't find anything using 'TIOC-PRO' in the search.
Also, it looks like his cameras/NVRs only support SMD Plus, not SMD 4.0. Is this true?

It's called Color4M...

Almost all modern Dahua cams have SMD 3.0 or SMD 4.0.. Also TIOC-PRO has SMD 4.0...

All Dahua NVR (even old one without AI like 4xxx-4ks2 or 5xxx-4ks2) supports any level of SMD, which is supported by camera.
SMD+ You can find in spec sheet of AI NVRs (Andy have modern 5xxx-EI NVR market as -AI models), but this is about situation when camera don't have AI / SMD and You must do motion detection & AI image analyzing on NVR..

Also most people here don't use SMD (which is basic and can do false positives) but IVS, which is more advanced.
Yes TIOC-PRO cams supports also IVS.. Also all AI NVRs sold by Andy...

Thank you.
Shame it's currently sold out. Was hoping to take advantage of the sale :-\
@EMPIRETECANDY could you please tell me when you are getting more stock of these?

Some questions about that model. We don't like the blue/red flashing lights. Can these be disabled?

Also, can I set the cam to act as a floodlight when it detects a human? For example, I'd like the light to be off, but then turn on when a human is detected, then turn off ~1 min after no detection.

Is this possible?

Normally this is hybrid light - IR + white... white can be activated by motion at night....
There are many very flexible modes you can configure how this works...

deterrent functions (siren + police light) are separate thing - which must be configured by You to work. they can work at specific hours of day or only when system is armed.

I know that @EMPIRETECANDY said he should have more sometime in December!
I really need these installed before Christmas.
Are the 1/2.7" sensors bad low light performance at 4MP? There are street lamps and the cams themselves will be set up so that the white LED turns on when people are detected.
My concern is that these models have a tiny white LED so I'm not sure if they get bright enough to matter.

Unfortunately that MP to sensor is not great for low light and the other TiOC cameras are not good. Are you wanting a way to deter people?

Damn.

Deter, yes. but identify within ~ 6ft is critical, and the functionality to use it as a 'smart floodlight sensor' is important too.
Are there maybe other brands of cams/NVRs that are worth looking into?

All of those pictures were screen shots from the DMSS app on my phone 45 miles from home (using cellular data and VPN). It is pitch black at my house (no street lights or lights on my house are on). The porch one looks like there’s a light on because it’s seeing the other cameras IR that is there. Make sure you click on the pics to see.

Thanks. I might get a couple, but at a bare minimum, I do require the spotlight functionality in at least two locations.

The spotlights aren’t going to be like a flood light. They are there more for the camera to see. Here’s a video of the Color4M siren and lights. I do not have it with the spotlights on or in dark condition. This was just for fun. The red and blue lights are very bright now.

We get your need for imminently, but don't let that take you down a path that will cause buying new cameras in 6 months.

Stick to the cameras on the ideal MP/sensor ratio.

As others have said, these are not floodlights. These white LEDs are not much brighter than a few cell phone flashlights - looks bright looking right at them, but they do not light up an area very much. They are gimmicky and won't scare anyone away, not even wildlife.

Motion activated lights are not a deterrent. There are enough videos here showing that perps do not flinch when a floodlight turns on. They avoid homes all lit up, so go with floodlights on all night.

Watch this video someone posted and how the floodlight comes on and they don't even flinch. But then the audio comes on and they don't know which way to run LOL.

Either keep the lights on all night or not at all to ensure the best chance of capture as some cameras can be temporarily blinded when the spotlight kicks on and you lose the ideal captuer.

Hey guys,

Looking for recommendations.
My mother has moved into a new place, and she wants to get a CCTV system.
Ideally she wants something that is plug n play, so an NVR solution would be nice.

As far as the cams go, she wants a couple that are wide angle with a built in floodlight, and a few which have a narrower field of view (around 90 degrees).
4K preferably. She also wants a doorbell cam, however this doesn't need to be 4K, so long as it's got two way audio and great night performance. All cams need to have vehicle and person detection (number plate detection not necessary). It would be a bonus if they also had pet detection (cat, dog), although not sure if this is something that the NVR could possibly handle if the cameras themselves cannot?

NVR needs to have all the standard functions, such as remote management, app support and notifications for alerts, as well as upgradable storage. Google Home integration would be a bonus.

The biggest uncertainty for me is the doorbell cam. I don't have any experience with these outside of the big box brands which require a subscription, and she wants to stay away from those.
As she's getting an NVR, would the doorbell cam need to be the same brand in order to work with it (including the AI features)?

What models of cams/NVRs/doorbells would you recommend? Links to products/stores would be appreciated!
I searched Amazon and eBay. I checked comments and percent liked. I bought 8 ipcams (4 are PTZ) and a Hikvision NVR with a 4 TB Hard drive. I ran cat6 wire add terminated with pull thru RJ45 plugs. Fun project. Then bought a Eufy doorbell. No monthly bills. I've had to replace a few PTZ cameras that had various issues like IR lights or communication. I like the apps for my phone when I'm traveling.
