I just received a marketing email from Amcrest, and one of the items in the email was this:

It looks like a new-ish model, because it has the NightColor feature.

Who's still using analog cameras in 2023? I'm not, but I'm curious.

As noted there are many places that have bnc cable running. The cams are also much cheaper. Much easier to quote 20 camera job with 1500 - 2k in camera cost (50-100 percent markup) than over 5k for ip cams and new cable or converters.

And amazon dropped the ball, bundling the analog cams with a POE NVR.....no wonder some folks get confused and/or frustrated.... :wtf::(

Just got rid of my last few about 8 months ago. I never did try the 5MP but their 4MP 2400 series use the same 1/1.8" sensor as the 5442 IP cams. Great camera if you can deal with having enough white light, OR IR at night not to need to change exposure as they dont have separate Day/Night profiles

Hmmm 2MP 1/2.7" 2MP CMOS Image Sensor

I think I'll get one. My XVR is lonely as Im no longer using it, I'll find something to do with that, along with this beast I just ordered from Andy.
HAC-HFW3802E-Z-VP - Dahua International

· 1/2” 8MP progressive scan CMOS
· 3x optical motorized zoom lens
· Max. 15fps@3840×2160
· 120dB true WDR, 3DNR
· Intelligent functions
· Max. 100m IR distance, smart IR
· IP67 & IK10 ingress protection
· Dual voltage input(DC12V/AC24V±25%)
· DC12V voltage output
· Up to 500m transmission with RG59 coaxial cable

Really its just to play with, I've made the complete IP conversion over the past few years, but like I said, my XVR needs something to do

And once in a great while I'll be asked about a single camera that watches a front porch for an invalid or to monitor the spooled yarn feed under a hobbyist's loom, and they are to displayed on a small TV or monitor with a CVBS (composite) input, no PC and software for viewing needed.
