I'd say any app that gives you dBm is preferable to an icon. dBm is objective. The icon display is arbitrary. So in terms of that factor, the Hik app and Guarding Vision look like the winners.

Edit: Now I see the ClaireVision app is showing a much different dBm value. Is it possible it's just fluctuating? Or does it always show a drastically different dBm value than Hik and GV?

Always similar values in each respective app. I have a Netgear Orbi base unit about 10 ft away.

Here is something that Guarding Vision has that none of the rest do and I love it. It’s a call log for when someone hits the doorbell button.

Gotcha--thanks for posting the shots of the different apps. I've stuck with the RCA one but may check out Guarding Vision.

As an aside, have you tried changing the "Image Encryption" password? Since they state that it's the same as the device verification code I wonder if changing that password might also change the admin password for the cam. I think my RCA Floodlight camera has that setting too.

Edit: That call log feature is awesome!! I wonder if I use that app with my HSDB1 if I'll get it too, or if it only works with the DB2. I'll test here a bit later.

No I haven’t tried changing it. I was reading somewhere that if you wanted to enable a certain feature. You needed to disable encryption. I don’t remember what it was, but I thought it was odd. I honestly don’t care.
