New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

looks like 119 at b&h has been the best price. will prob wait to get it then. seems to work great, and have a good image....

How is this doorbell holding up to the rain? I have been struggling with the NSC-DB1 as water appears to be getting inside and causing power issues, power shorts, etc. It also causes condensation in the lens that doesn’t clear for a few days.

I can’t find an IP rating for the HSDB2A. @Chadsturgill, you were having water issues with the DB1, right? Have you had any issues with the HSDB2A?

Also, I have seen references to people buying more powerful transformers for both this and the DB1. But, I haven’t seen a reason why. I am using a 16V/40VA plug-in transformer to power two NSC-DB1’s. The one doorbell not exposed to rain seems to always been fine, but I am curious if random power losses may be due to being under powered and not just the rain.

Thanks for the help!

Does anyone know if there is support for Alexa or Google home/assistant with either the RCA or the EZVIZ DB1?
Also has anyone tried using the IP stream with the TinyCam android app?
I currently have a Ring Pro and it honestly kind of sucks...because it does not store the video locally the motion capture never gets a video of someone.
A porch pirate could just run up quick and I would never see them, I would get the notification of motion but that's it. The ring is still in the return window, so I may try this one out.

This will work fine with tiny cam pro. You just need to put in the rtsp feed address.

Can this doorbell be heard without an external chime? I assume this one doesn't have a wireless chime?

I've setup HSDB2 and hooked up blueiris and the EZVID android app.
Everything works ok except that i can not get Live View to display when i'm on Cell/Mobile Network.
I eventually would get an error code
"Video play failed, error code:260015"
There's no issue when i'm using WIFI at home (same network as the camera).
I am suspecting that there are some ports i need to open/forward on the router (i have ubiquiti NSG),
but no useful result/info after my extensive search.... anyone has encounter similar behavior ? thanks in advance

Got mine setup. My electronic chime does not work, but it did said it might not work for 3 hours, not sure what that is all about though, internal battery?

Anyways I have to say the packaging and build quality on this doorbell cam is outstanding, it's better quality than the ring pro. The mounting bracket has thread inserts and the ring pro you just screwed into plastic....

I currently have a 16v 10va transformer but am installing a better one (16v 30va) in the morning.
The chime I have is a heath zenith, but it's the exactly the same as the home depot ones listed on the compatibility list.

Any of you guys/gals using a electronic chime with this and if so any tips on getting it working?

The documentation seems a little wonky, not sure if the power adapter is needed for the electronic or not, but I am assuming it is and what about a diode? is a diode needed to get the chime working?

The video quality and the IR is better than the Ring Pro as well, I can see more of the porch with the taller aspect ratio.

Overall pretty pleased except that the chime is not working, but if I can't get this electronic one I will just go to Home Depot and get the one on the list or just get a mechanical one.

great info...

please post videos if you have a chance..... this DB seems to be working well. Are you using an NVR, or just the SDcard into the DB?

Hi,
just using the sd card it came with. I have it connected via TinyCam Pro but I can't seem to figure out what the password is. On the code sticker there is a SN and a verification code, not sure which one it is.
tried both and it did not work but could be it's not the full serial number.

i would think you are able to change that in the RCA app no?

I can only change my account logon in the app. I am actually using the EZViz app.
I tried admin for username and 6 digit verification code for password but no dice.

Make sure the electronic chime adapter is installed correctly and the app is configured to use it (the adapter will not work correctly without it being set in the app).

There is a typo in the second screen referring to a mechanical chime (should say electronic chime). (iOS)

The user configurable button press time is especially cool.

still can't get the chime to work, If I put the diode on the back like the chime instructions recommend it just plays the chime over and over as if I just touched the two wires. tried reversing the diode and then the doorbell does not work.

Check out this screen shot, does this look right? everywhere there is bright sun it's completely washed out.
Exposure on this cam is messed up? Is this normal?

Thanks, I didn't see that post :) Hopefully I can get a chime working. I went to home depot and got the model in the list for the eletronic and a mechanical one that was in the list.
The Home depot one is exactly the same as the Heath Zenith one externally but could be different inside, will try it let you know.
Here is the Heath Zenith one that does not work:
Wireless+Wired Doorbell - HeathZenith

Here is the home depot one that I just got:
Hampton Bay Wireless or Wired Door Bell, Brushed Nickel-HB-7612-02 - The Home Depot

downloading the IVMS 4200 software now.
