New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

This is my update to 101, let me know if I missed anything or need to change it:

ADDITIONAL TIPS:
⦁ For RCA owners (ONLY); if you want to remove the RCA Logo, we found a trick in doing so. You will need to install EZVIZ firmware build 190708 first, then turn ON Logo in Batch Config. Tool (Remote Configuration/Image/Video Display), then load LaView's firmware (which will turn Logo OFF)
⦁ For EZVIZ owners (ONLY); if you plan to install/upgrade your firmware to LaView's firmware you NEED to be sure and follow these steps: First Check your firmware in your App under Settings. If you have build 190304 DO NOT install LaView's firmware (If you do you will end up with a RCA Logo). If have the 190304 build you will NEED to update your firmware to EZVIZ build 190708 first. Next; with the 190708 build installed/confirmed go to Batch Config. Tool (Remote Configuration/Image/Video Display) check to see if the Logo is checked ON, if so, you will need to uncheck it Off before installing/upgrading to LaView's firmware.

Thanks. It also seems to have muted the beep the doorbell was making too. Is there a way to keep the mobile app notifications but not have the doorbell itself beep when the PIR triggers?

I am using the guarding vision app on iOS instead of ezviz (I have an RCA model). In that app, the notifications are clearly defined as "push notifications" which means the phone notification system.
I have an alarm notification on/off switch which defines whether the phone gets the notification or not. Then a schedule to tell it to turn that switch on/off per schedule. And a silenced option which makes the phone still get the notifications but will keep it within the app and not ring the phone/notification center. Then I have a notification sound mode which defines how loudly my phone notifies me and I have that muted... So I still get the notifications on my phone but the phone remains quiet while being notified. It just vibrates but it also turns off the alarm at the doorbell upon movement detection. Is this what you are seeing?

Yes, I have the RCA logo on mine, but everything else is working great. My dahua NVRs are recording stream and the IMOU app receives the motion alerts. I hope we can find an easy way to turn off the logo. Having EZVIZ on the faceplate but RCA on the screen seems especially annoying.
The whole RCA Logo is still quite a puzzle, EZVIZ build 190304, being the problem. Before I would attempt going back to EZVIZ firmware I would make sure you are able to replace the unit, hopefully you are within 30 days for a return to Amazon, if that is where you got it, in case you end up with the same problems others have reported.
If you are able to return, if it were me, I would try to load 190708 from the .dav file from the EZVIZ link in the 101, it is build 190708, if you are successful there, turn off Logo in Batch Config. Tool then install LaView and your RCA Logo should be gone.

Seem to remember LaView's ONE App referring to them as push notifications too

Not sure in iO/S but in Android phone settings I would check App Notification Permissions to see if anything change there, it may have turned that Off.

I've gotten myself in a jam and cannot find a solution.
I have an EZVIZ DB1 and had it working well with Blueiris as well but it kept periodically dropping the connection so I went ahead and upgraded the firmware to the LAView (LC-PDB1630-U) with the Batch software. But once I reset the device I tried to re-connect using both the EZVIZ app and the LAVIEW ONE app but both complain that the device WiFi name no longer matches. It's looking for WifiEZVIZ_D663xxxx instead of it's new name which is Laview_D663xxxx thus it will not configure automatically or manually.
At first I thought it was just that the password was incorrect, but I figured that out. Instead of being EZVIZ_xxxxxx it's now Laview_xxxxxx.
So how do I get past this stage ???
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. Used iVMS-4200 to reload in the EZVIZ firmware and I was able to reconnect via the APP and BlueIris. Strange how others can change the firmware to LaView and have things work as they should and I was not.
I found a way around this. If you login utilizing LaView SSID and password, you can change the SSID and password to match the original EZVIZ SSID and password.

In the ezviz app there is under alarmnotification ( or something like that ; i have dutch version) the is a mode setting which you can use to silence the annoying alarm beep of the db1

Thanks everyone, the in-app alarm notifications started working (and the annoying beep the doorbell makes isn't happening) so I think I'm good there.

Hi All,

My door bell from Best Buy came in and installation complete. The initial firmware was V5.2.4 build 190304 per Ezviz app. As suggested by David L and folks here, I updated it to V5.2.4 build 190708 with Ezviz. Then used batch config to uncheck text overlay (Logo) and upgraded to LaView (Jul 29, 2019) Build 190716 (ONVIF Support) firmware. No logos, no issues! I got it to show in Surveillance Station and tomorrow will do some playing around and may be I can integrate into HASS.IO and get some AI to do announcements. So thank everyone for the support and lots of helpful hints.

Few questions so far
1. After I installed the power kit at the chime, the original cheap bell worked fine, but after I installed the Ezviz the bell sounded muffled. Over time it sounds a bit better but not the way it was before. I did install the transformer mentioned in the thread so it is supplying 16V 30VAC. Is this normal?
2. Which app is better? I am currently using Ezviz
3. Is there a way to not only send a notification but pop up the image when the camera detects someone?

Thanks
Paul

I have ezview db1 and my night vision isn't turning on automatically. I've only had this for a few days and It's worked previously so I'm unsure. I do have two street lights in view and the neighbors have their Christmas lights too, but as I mentioned that the night vision was working.

I do believe, one time the night vision didn't come on until I approached the door. I heard a click as I got closer to the door.

I'm using the iOS app.

80 pages, is there a wiki/recap of what firmwares (and where to get them)? Would love to update the firmware and remove the logo and add ONVIF support

Congrats on your install...

Q1. I would check voltage at Doorbell and Chime (Mechanical?)
Q2. I have tried both LaView ONE and EZVIZ, they seem to operate the same for this Android user. You can try them all, just be aware that you may have to remove the Doorbell from a previous App before being able to use a new App. Just have your QR Scan Code handy, you are not reinstalling the Doorbell, just registering to a different cloud.
Q3. Not directly, but I have read several here do something similar to what you are asking. I would search the the thread.

There may be something easier than my suggestion but I do see a Day/Night setting in Batch Configuration Tool:

Thanks! I didn't realize I could use that. I am still unable to get the auto-switch to work, even after messing around with the parameters there. The night vision is working when I turn it on manually or scheduled via the batch tool.

I am using the latest Ezviz firmware.

Anyone here have two-way talk working in Blue Iris? I setup the doorbell as a generic Hikvision 2-CDXXXXXXX camera, and I do receive audio from the doorbell, but cannot activate the microphone to talk back to the doorbell. Just thought I'd ask before poring through the first seventy or so pages of this thread (which I'll be doing right now.) Thanks!

EDIT: Nope, does not appear to be functional. Wonder if Ken can work with it to find something?

2ND EDIT: Setting camera type to Hikvision / Other RTSP does enable the microphone in the iOS app. Don't think it functions, though. :(
I'm going to play around with it the next couple of days. I'm hopeful someone can figure that one out too. Has anyone contact BI developer?

I have the Ezviz firmware as of now. Outside of an update, I haven't touched anything else - has the motion settings greyed out as well. And yeah, the motion thing is really odd - cars in the street (which is at least 20ft from my front door, if not more) works on the middle setting but when I turn it down one it see's nothing on the sidewalk up to my door that's center image.

Re: MotionEye - it's a frontend to the motion suite of image/motion detection tools (ccrisan/motioneyeos) - the android version is something else or a port I believe. I had 4-5 cameras on it (inside the house, 3 foscam's, 1 Wyze) and it was ok, this one it's choking on. So, trying a few things - using the substream and just put MotionEye onto a Pi4 vs a Pi3b+ with just the doorbell. Will see if it's a processing power vs. network issue now and get it all aligned.
So I tried the 5 foot PIR motion setting for a few days, did some testing and mine detected me at about 4 feet, I walked into view from around the corner and it did not detect me until I was on my porch which is 5 feet in length. So again around 4 foot I got a notification so it is pretty accurate, zero big trucks being detected and we have a lot of delivery trucks all day long. I will test my 9 foot setting next.

If enabled, I'd be curious to see how well it ends up working. When Ken (BI developer) enabled two-way audio on the 1831C-PIR, it wasn't too useful for me because it wasn't full-duplex. To talk to the camera in the BI smartphone app, I had to toggle the MIC button on, say what I was going to say, then toggle the MIC button off. While the MIC button was on, audio coming from the camera was muted, so if the person on the far end said anything I couldn't hear it.

Using the Dahua app to two-way talk to the camera was a better experience for me... I could hear from the camera at the same time I was talking to it (i.e. more of a full-duplex experience).

I don't understand how two-way talk should actually work, so I don't know if BI is trailing in that area, or maybe BI is normal and the Dahua app is doing some magic.
