Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

Seriously? Just google them..

Why do people not bother to research where their information comes from? Have we grown so gullible in the USA that we just blindly accept anything put on the internet?

Zerohedge is bulgarian, pro-putin, pro-russian.. .. its a camoflaged conspiracy and propaganda website masquerading as a financial information and news media site.

Russians can be sneaky... I'm an expert.. I married one.

Because those who toss accusations and aspersion should feel compelled to reinforce their position - else it's nothing more than a back-handed attempt to discredit.

Besides, given that China and Russia are significantly more aligned that the US and Russia are, what sense would it make for a 'Russian!' site to criticize the Chinese?

I'm just tired of people trying to shut down dialog or perspective by throwing the "RUSSIAN!" boogieman term. ZH is an aggregation site that offers comment on sourced materials. I've been going there for years (9 to be precise) and have found them to be considerately more compelling and accurate than anything mainstream.

Of course, calling into question official "news" websites or narratives draws immediate criticism and allegations of being a foreign actor. It is good policy to research and consider all perspectives - and not shoot something down as "RUSSIAN!" if it doesn't immediately comport with MSM.

And finally, even if it was "pro-Russia", "pro-Putin" doesn't mean it is inaccurate. Now, CNN on the other hand...

I have no way of verfying this but it’s accepted as fact by most others

In September 2009, news reports identified Daniel Ivandjiiski, a Bulgarian-born,[d] U.S.-educated,[e]former hedge-fund trader, who was barred from the securities industry in September 2008 for earning US$780 from an insider trade by FINRA,[19] as the founder of the site, and reported that "Tyler Durden" was a pseudonym for Ivandjiiski.[2][20][21] FINRA rulings show Ivandjiiski worked for 3 years at New York investment bank, Jefferies & Co.,[22] as well a number of hedge funds, the last of which was Wexford Capital LLC, a fund led by former Goldman Sachs traders.[23] One female site contributor, who spoke to New York magazine in an interview arranged by Ivandjiiski, said "up to 40" people could post under the "Tyler Durden" pseudonym.[2] The same New York magazine article, published on 27 September 2009, stated that Ivandjiiski's father was Krassimir Ivandjiiski,[2] a Bulgarian publisher and editor of the website Strogo Sekretno ("Top Secret"), and monthly publication Bulgarian Confidential, since 1994.[f]

In a 29 April 2016 Bloomberg article "unmasking" Zero Hedge,[10] the authors writing as "Tyler Durden" were revealed as Ivandjiiski, then age 37, Tim Backshall, age 45 (a known credit derivatives strategist, who had been on CNBC; an irony given Zero Hedge's strong aversion to CNBC),[25] and Colin Lokey, age 32 (a Seeking Alpha staff writer).[26][27] Lokey, the newest member, who joined in 2015, publicly revealed himself and the other two, when he left the site in April 2016.[28]Ivandjiiski confirmed the three men "had been the only Tyler Durdens on the payroll" since Lokey joined in 2015.[10] Lokey said he was paid $6,000 per month, and received a bonus of $50,000, earning over $100,000 in 2015.[10] According to Ivandjiiski, the blog generates revenue from online advertising(there is no subscription service).[10]

Well, given the gaslighting and astroturfing that Wikipedia has been caught doing (here - I'll cite my accusation), I have very, VERY little trust in Wikipedia. To think there aren't agendas (and significant funding) behind what is published on Wikipedia would be naive at best. Of course, who is to say Sheryl Atkison isn't RUSSIAN! just trying to propagandize me... AHHH!

True but in this case their profile matches all of the others I was able to find in a short time.

In fairness I found one site/blog promoting ZE as a Russian spy operation, with 0 citations or any verifiable links to their theory.

Most of the data I’m seeing is links to Chinese govt data, WHO, and various researchers. The commentary on ZH may be just as bad as CNN, I dunno. It’s not what I formulate my hunch on

China and Russia used to be closely aligned, that hasn't been the case for 30+ years.. and especially not under China's Xi Jinping. And to be more accurate, China and Russia were never really that close, not like Canada and the USA anyhow.. The exception was when it came to the USA.. It was a situation of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" type of thing.

China is closer to the USA these days than they are to Russia.. much closer..

I don't think China is lying to us.. that's not to say I think their numbers are accurate, but I believe they are as good as China can make them given the enormity and speed of the problem as well as the lack of resources.. IE: Testing kits, reporting, etc.

I don't think China is lying to us, the US, in particular. They're lying to the whole world and probably themselves as well. They can't admit they can't control or stop this.

Re: CCP and lies...

Oh no, I have complete trust in Xi .. it must be incompetent underlings who need to be “forever nailed to history's pillar of shame."

The WHO are on their way to Wuhan; apparently they will attempt to setup a containment field and everybody resume business as usual ;)

I found it interesting to review the "Spanish Flu of 1918" ( hint: many parallels... note: it really should not be named the Spanish Flu - they were just the first to report it, others kept it secret due to national interests )

The Coronavirus if far more deadly than then the flu. The average death rate for influenza is approximately 15 people per 100,000 people infected or 0.015%. The Coronavirus's current death rate is 2.36%. At that rate it kills 2,360 people per 100,000 people infected compared to 15 for the flu. This is the reason and concern about it spreading.

Wow, simply shocking; this is like saying I can show others that I have the guts to fly on a helicopter and persuade the pilot to fly even when there is dense fog within a 25 mile radius. Also worth noting, the FAA grounds all other helicopters from flying in that period of time. You later regret and moments later find out that you're flying into no man's land. Its always good to listen and take advice; that fellow in India should have consulted with a doctor. Influenced by media

Darwin seems to be pretty good at it.

@Murphy625 has obviously not read Q™'s Theorem on the Subversion of the Law of Natural Selection by Modern Medical Technology" where as Johnny Doe steps off the curb while texting, gets run over by a Whole Foods delivery van, is saved at the emergency room, and subsequently fathers a half dozen Johnny and Jane Doe Juniors, thus further polluting an already tainted gene pool.
