More than 50 years ago I was working a trade show at the Chicago stockyards (this was after McCormick Place #1 burnt down). We needed to bring our stuff in and got pounced on by the union thugs while lifting a standard overhead garage door. Only union members were allowed to lift the door.
Ten years later I was working a booth in Atlanta. We ordered the optional booth telephone. We weren't allowed to plug the phone into the RJ-11 jack. Only union people could do that.
